I wish Laker fans would get why plays like that are so annoying to the general public in evaluation of Kobe. Yes, he can be an exceptional defender. That does not mean that he has defensive value over the course of a season. He's never that engaged for long periods of time, and opting to do it in a meaningless exhibition game shows the best and the worst of Kobe. He is tremendously skilled, but often opts to exert effort at meaningless times and in ways that show how amazing he is, rather than being mentally engaged throughout.

I know that he has a no trade clause in his contract, but...the Spurs do still have the amnesty to use.
