Was Pope Benedict fired by the Knights of Malta?

Popes don’t resign. They get fired.

Sometimes they’re “fired” by God, who has been known to dismiss them from this mortal coil. On other occasions, Satan – through one of his secret societies infesting the Vatican – slips the Pontiff one of those patented papal poisons.

But Popes do not resign because they’re getting old. If you believe that Papal Bull, I have a “we killed Bin Laden and threw him in the ocean” story to sell you.

Pope received news of his warrant of arrest before resignation

With his resignation announced, the former pope will have a meeting with the Italian President, Giorgio Napolitano on February 23 to beg for immunity against prosecution for allegations of child rape.

Benedict XVI was the first Pope to resign in 600 years, which shocked almost everyone. And he did so after panicking about an impending arrest in the midst of a hastily arranged meeting begging for protection from the Italian government.

I think US and Euro prosecutors are following a trail to Benny, before and while he was Il Papa, that will show he knew about and shielded priestly pedophiles.

Could be, but in the meantime, I don't see evidence there is an actual warrant out.

And if there is, I don't see how resigning would keep him from getting arrested.

"how resigning would keep him from getting arrested."

subpoenaed/arrested/indicted while being Pope is worse than arrested as retired Pope (but not much)

Worse for who? The Roman Catholic Church?

    yeah, I guess.

from what I've seen so far, it seems to me that Benedict was tired of the behind the scenes politics.

The CC org is rotten, just another huge, wealthy political organization where organizational survival trumps any individuals, like children.

Being way up in the power structure before he was Pope, Benny certainly was not naive about the Machiavellian Vatican.

maybe he was naive in believing he could change the culture?

I'm still reading up on things that had been happening. This article is long but it's got some interesting stuff.

Is he one of historys most evil men?

The church's reputation is more important than stopping child abuse apparently. An expert at brushing things under the rug... what a pitiful human being. Not many men have had so much power and knowledge re: sexual abuse and done so little

If you want accuracy, with as much as I pay in taxes, it's at least a whole slice.
