I think the Academy would like to forget about 2008 entirely as far as BP is concerned
clockwork orange snubbed for french connection...![]()
Have you seen The French Connection? Excellent film.
slumdog millionaire was pretty to say the least, and how it found a way to the american market is still beyond me tbh.
sean penn might be the most insignificant actor to ever win the oscar imho and pitt was indeed robbed in 09. but it's no surprise they gave it to sean for milk, since most movie critics are just as obssessed with gay themes as some of you heads on THIS board
Forrest Gump beating Pulp Fiction and Shawshank looks pretty bad in hindsight. , even Quiz Show holds up a lot better than Gump.
I have and it is good but Clockwork is my favourite film so I'm a biased wanker
Sean Penn is an excellent actor, definitely deserving of an Oscar, I think he is best in Mystic River but was very good in Milk and Dead Man Walking and pretty much everything (Fast Times at Ridgemont High)
Gump was easily one of the best movies hollywood has ever made and it was a well deserved one for gump aka. hanks, and im not a fan of him at all. hanks might appear a prissy hypocrit in most of his movies but Forrest Gump was a sheer exception and a great one tbh.
shawshank was great too and would've probably won oscar with ease in any other year, but it just came out at the wrong time like malone vs. jordan imho
Any year that Christ Nolan doesn't win Best Picture and Best Director.
But seriously, There Will Be Blood, Drive, and Inglorious Basterds should have won Best Picture in their respective years. Drive wasn't even nominated (probably because the Zionist controlled Hollywood was upset over the main villains being Jewish).
Gosford Park is one of the most overrated movies to be nominated for Best Picture. Take that piece of out and place The Royal Tenenbaums in its spot. I'd also replace The Kids Are All Right and replace it with The Town. The Kids Are All Right was a terrible movie and definitely not worthy of getting nominated for Best picture. I would also take Juno out and replace it with Gone Baby Gone.
I'm kinda shocked how many of those nominees (from 1990-present) I haven't seen, particularly:
The Aviator
Mystic River
Chicago (seen parts and hated it)
Million Dollar Baby
Brokeback Mountain
Avatar
Hurt Locker
District 9
The Social Network
Watch District 9 and The Social Network. The Social Network has a great soundtrack.
Mystic River and District 9 best in that list
I hate avatar
94 was a damn great year in movies
Guy is overrated
.............................................good choice.
I love Gladiator but there's no way in it should have beaten Traffic.
Exactly
Aviator and Mystic River are the best here
Saw Mystic River last night. Pretty good...Robbins was great
I generally can't stand Sean Penn and find him to be grossly overrated, but Milk was a great film and his performance was very good.
+1
Opinions I know but he's a far better actor than Tom hardy and certainly not as overrated as hardy either. Most people hate penn. I don't know how hardy gets roles. Last two films I saw him in he was dreadful
Hardy was dreadful? Or the films were dreadful? I've seen him in some horrendous movies, but I've always found Hardy's performances very good. Even in the Star Trek movie he did way back forever ago.
But, yes, opinions and preferences and all that rot.
