Opinions I know but he's a far better actor than Tom hardy and certainly not as overrated as hardy either. Most people hate penn. I don't know how hardy gets roles. Last two films I saw him in he was dreadful

People don't hate Sean Penn's acting, his talent is undeniable. they hate the fact that he's a pompous who takes himself way too seriously. Or they hate his political beliefs. Probably the Oscar night where Chris Rock made a harmless joke about Jude Law, and Sean Penn took to the stage to issue a public scolding for it, is where people's opinions of him really soured. Or, in my case, when he stole Bill Murray's Oscar from him in 2003.

You're completely right, in person he is a wanker. But like Tom Cruise I just do my best to look past that and see that they are very capable actors.
