okc may not be as good without harden, but they sure did make out like bandits on that trade. martin, lamb, and a lottery pick! like okc didn't already have a bright future. and they still challenge us for best in the west. consider that and memphis trashed their chemistry, the lakers are on the brink of epic fail, and the clippers might shake up their team.
maybe a splitter trade would do more good than harm? it wouldn't be a good idea for winning this year, but the west is kinda sickly this season. i think the spurs can maintain compe iveness this year and next, while avoiding a timmy's gone tank fest! how bout a little cap space and quality youth?
spurs get cavs get
tyler zeller splitter
omri casspi blair
cavs 1st 13 bonner
cavs 2nd 13 spurs 2nd 13
spurs like casspi. zeller has starting minutes experience, good coaching background, averages a high amount of assists, etc. cavs 1st stands a good chance of being in the lottery. cavs second is a huge upgrade from the spurs 2nd. could be the difference between a draft and stash, or a sleeper.
cavs get another brazlian pick and roller, we've seen how they do with the other one. that alone could save their playoff hopes. they've also seen blair tear it up in the city closest his home town. i think cavs are one of a few teams that could get actual value outta blair. and i think the cavs know that. bonner is a salary dump. he's just part of the cost of doing business. the spurs aren't dumpin splitter cause he stinks, it's about the money. blair on the other hand... well at least he's gonna give the cavs some value, probably re-sign for cheap. so they get the bill for bonner.
as for the picks. well a bonner bill, a decent rookie big, and a casspi dump aint worth the spurs chemistry and quality bigs. they gotta give up that juicy 1st too. ! with splitter/quality blair on the team and the quality of this draft, it may not even be so juicy. they're gonna have to swap 2nds just to give a little insurance on that juice.
