Something about RJ and Bourbon Street mixing it up.

I would have liked to seen it personally. Perkins made Tim's life in the WCF last year.
Perk does a great job on Tim 1 on 1 in the post, but how often do we go 4 down anymore? OKC struggled with him on the floor defensively in games 1 & 2, then our role players collectively stopped taking/making outside jumpers that are wide open because Perk struggles with PnR.

I wouldn't trade Thompson straight up for Gordon. No way I throw in Barnes as well.
I agree with you. But the Warriors don't apparently. If I'm New Orleans I'm going to see how badly they want another max player.

It's even more true that Magic aren't interested in Mbah A Moute contract:
No, Chinook meant a 3-way deal that would send Red to the Bucks, Mbah a Moute to the Spurs, Bonner and Blair to the Magic, with other filler and picks as needed. (I know there would need to be more included)

okc may not be as good without harden, but they sure did make out like bandits on that trade. martin, lamb, and a lottery pick!
If Martin keeps shooting 5% above his career average from 3, it's not too bad. But hard to say that anybody made out like a bandit when they gave up the best player in the trade by a large margin.

I think he understood what I meant, which is why he posted that quote which said the Bucks want Red and want to trade Mbah a Moute for him, but the Magic don't want Mbah a Moute's deal.

I don't see why the Warriors would want to do that.
Agreed. Thompson's having a breakout year and is much cheaper than Gordon, and they're putting up almost identical numbers. Would be a dumb move imo.

okc may not be as good without harden, but they sure did make out like bandits on that trade. martin, lamb, and a lottery pick! like okc didn't already have a bright future. and they still challenge us for best in the west. consider that and memphis trashed their chemistry, the lakers are on the brink of epic fail, and the clippers might shake up their team.

maybe a splitter trade would do more good than harm? it wouldn't be a good idea for winning this year, but the west is kinda sickly this season. i think the spurs can maintain compe iveness this year and next, while avoiding a timmy's gone tank fest! how bout a little cap space and quality youth?

    spurs get cavs get
    tyler zeller splitter
    omri casspi blair
    cavs 1st 13 bonner
    cavs 2nd 13 spurs 2nd 13

spurs like casspi. zeller has starting minutes experience, good coaching background, averages a high amount of assists, etc. cavs 1st stands a good chance of being in the lottery. cavs second is a huge upgrade from the spurs 2nd. could be the difference between a draft and stash, or a sleeper.

cavs get another brazlian pick and roller, we've seen how they do with the other one. that alone could save their playoff hopes. they've also seen blair tear it up in the city closest his home town. i think cavs are one of a few teams that could get actual value outta blair. and i think the cavs know that. bonner is a salary dump. he's just part of the cost of doing business. the spurs aren't dumpin splitter cause he stinks, it's about the money. blair on the other hand... well at least he's gonna give the cavs some value, probably re-sign for cheap. so they get the bill for bonner.

as for the picks. well a bonner bill, a decent rookie big, and a casspi dump aint worth the spurs chemistry and quality bigs. they gotta give up that juicy 1st too. ! with splitter/quality blair on the team and the quality of this draft, it may not even be so juicy. they're gonna have to swap 2nds just to give a little insurance on that juice.
    What the .

If the Hawks had their way before Thursday, they would find a deal that included a young center (because they see Al Horford as a power forward), expiring contracts, desirable players on rookie contracts and/or draft picks.

So, it looks like there won't have a single trade made in the few days before the trade deadline day. That's quite unusual and could leads to a very quiet trade deadline.

Do you think the more punitive luxury tax is contributing to this?

I would say the 2007 trade deadline:
    - Juan Dixon for Fred Jones
    - Anthony Johnson for a second round pick

It's possible, I'm not sure. Another reason would be that a lot of moves have been done this summer and earlier this season.

Josh Smith will windup in Milwaukee if I was a betting man. I'm actually pretty disappointed the Spurs aren't even interested in him. I don't have nearly the confidence in Splitter/Diaw come playoff time that most of the fans on these boards do.
