If the Lakers did sneak into the playoffs and did face the Spurs in the first round with a relatively healthy squad, they'd be a problem for the Spurs.

Don't know if they'd win the series, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Still contingent on two very questionable things, the Lakers actually making the playoffs and being relatively healthy.

Groundhog day Kobe speaks no risk rubbish - what is he going to say they are going to miss it and fear teams? - if they make the playoffs it will not because of him but due to Nash and Howard starting to play better and if not he will as much as possible shift the blame....

spurs are still a slim shot for the championship. giving the lakers' 100 million dollar team a beatdown is the next best thing. the old core will play like the finals in a series with the lakers. i don't expect the lakers to win.

The Lakers wil make the playoffs. One of the other teams will start losing and the Lakers will sneak in. They'd be a tough 1st round opponent for the Spurs tbh. Still think we'd win though.

Fact that the Jazz stand pat & still is very solid at home, the Rox is getting hotter (Beardman & man) & lighter schedule, and the Dubs level of talent won't allow them to suck much further, i firmly believe the Lakers will miss the playoff this year.

I just watched part of Kobe's speech at Buss' memorial.
using his death to push the team for another ring so he can be like Mike.

    Meh, I agree with him..

As DPG and I have been saying, don't count out the Lakers..they are the 4th best team in the West and a sleeper, tbh..
Agreed. Not really laughable, they are still expected to enter the playoffs tbh fwiw.

Don't think it's insecurity talking. What would you expect Kobe to say? If they were dead last in the Western Conference and he was talking like this, it would be one thing. But they're basically 3 games out of the 8th seed and they have played somewhat better recently. Whether he's right or wrong can be argued. We'll have to wait and see. But I'm not at all surprised by the comment. That's who Kobe is. I don't see it as insecurity. But I do see it as unnecessary. Even if he was just answering a question posed to him, he should just shut up and play. He should let his play and his team winning games do the talking. And up to this point, they haven't. So just shut up and play.

It would be more surprising if Kobe said something to the effect that the Lakers are finished and they should concede not making the playoffs. That would be way more out of character.

Of course you answer the question, but going into no fear and especially the naming names reeks of self serving attention grab and unnecessary chest pumping . No one in the NBA has fear of another team. This is what they do for a living.

Kobe has he gone out of his way this year to make sure everyone, especially the media, understands that this team's losing is not his fault. He's called out Pau, called out Dwight, thrown the entire team under the bus without taking responsibility. We all know who he is and how good he is. It's not necessary to remind us everyday. These are traits of insecure people. I'm not saying he's insecure in his skills and what he can do, but he just doesn't want to be painted as the guy that couldn't get "his" stacked team into the playoffs so he keeps throwing this stuff out there.

They would need to win 3 and the Rockets or the Jazz would have to lose 3-4 games. And with Dirk back, the Mavs could pass them in the standings too. Both teams have the same number of lost games.

lakers wouldn't be an easy matchup for any team but it's stupid to say they have a realistic chance to beat the likes of OKC, spurs and clippers in a best of 7 series imho, they're pretty much like the 07' jazz who would go HAM on fake tough teams (rockets) time and time again but would immediately melt down when encountering the real good teams (like the spurs)

Clips currently blowing out the Jazz.... with the way the Hallway Series has gone this year, I doubt they're too worried about the Lakers, tbh

Are you inebriated? If Clipps lose against Utah, it hurts the Lakers playoff hopes. Hallway series has nothing to do with my pst

I'm saying that the Clippers probably aren't worried enough about the Lakers (considering how they've dominated your FakeShow this year) to start tanking games to keep them out of the playoffs, like you were implying in the post I quoted, tbh....

Someone's drunk but it's clearly not me
