because between him and Collison, it's a tossup... they're both and Dallas needs an upgrade urgently there
Why, tbh?....

Collison is clearly better than James. Apparently Carlisle has completely bought into Donnie philosophy that ty old veterans > young athletic guys.
Collison's IQ is near-re ed level, but when you play a veteran like James, you expect him to avoid mistakes like sagging off Steve ing Nash in clutch time..
James makes an abundance of low-IQ decisions..his decision making should be his only potential advantage over Collison, yet that hasn't been the case during actual game time..
If he isn't going to make intelligent decisions, there is absolutely no reason to play him ahead of Collison..
james has his strength imho. carlisle is a awesome in-game coach and he for sure knows the game better than any fan does. his usage of JJB also drew him alot of controversy and criticism back in the day but his persistence finally paid off in 11' game 6. mike james is also a double edged sword, his shot selections might be poor at times but he can hit some big shots and can possible save the game for his team. players like james have their values and carlisle is able to make good use of such players tbh
