Whats the difference between that and a person that grew up in SA taking a job opportunity in NY, and continuing to root for the Spurs instead of the Knicks? I was born in Mexico. And it would be since it still wouldve been my first language and the language I spoke at home.

For the record, I initially felt bad before I posted it because they're real people and stuff. But no one made them pose like that. What's strange is there is no prouder immigrant than the Mexicans who immigrated to the US during the Mexican Revolution. The Mexicans of that particular generation, like most immigrant groups of the early-1900s, willingly assimilated, learned the language, and ultimately considered themselves American above all else, but at the same time remained proud of the their heritage and merged elements of their culture with American culture (just like Italians on the East Coast, Scandinavians in the Northwest, etc). I couldn't imagine the Southwest without its Mexican influences.

They also raised their children as Americanized as possible. You'll find that most Baby Boomer Mexican-Americans are more passionate flag wavers than any redneck.

Not sure when the mentality changed. Mexicans immigrants just come here to work now and aren't really interested in being Americans like previous generations. Even though they live, work, and raise their families in the United States, they still see themselves as Mexicans above all else, unlike previous Mexican immigrant generations. I think the movement led by Cesar Chavez might've been the turning point. After that, Mexicans (and the politicians who pander to that voting base), like African Americans, suddenly embraced victimhood and learned to use it as a powerful political tool.

America was a land rich in a natural resources that had great trade access to both the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean while it was occupied by an extremely primitive civilization that had like a 75 word vocabulary when the pilgrims got here.
