When my ancestors came here they managed to keep practicing Judaism, had opened their own successful business, and by their 2nd generation in America were speaking English without any ESL classes provided by the taxpayer. There's absolutely no reason why 3rd and 4th generation Mexican-Americans speak Spanish as a 1st language. Every other group that's ever migrated to this country was speaking English by their 2nd generation in America.

I personally know several 3rd and 4th generation Americans I went to high school with who's primary language was Spanish. They spoke broken English with a heavy accent and were overall decent people, but Spanish was clearly their 1st language. Furthermore, I remember one day when the be@ners were protesting down town and all the Hispanics at school were ready to start a riot because the school wouldn't let them leave early to go protest without a parent's excuse, they were waiving Mexican flags all over the place.

You have to look at this from what parents spoke in their houshold. If I was born in a mainly Spanish household, Spanish would probably be my first language. I don't think there is anything wrong if you speak Spanish as your first so long as you're just as fluent in English.

Think about it for a minute and youll realize how stupid assuming something like that is...youre telling me a Mexican is willingly refusing the ability to communicate in order to piss people like you off? What Ive seen from people that dont know Spanish, which is alot more than youve seen unless you enjoy spending time with 'be@ners'...is that theyre uneducated. Its not a refusal to learn the language as much as its them just being kinda dumb if were being straight forward. Probably doesnt help that its alot harder to learn a new language as an adult. I know a load of older people that dont know English and have been here 20-30 years, they just never picked it up or were in an environment (work) were it wasnt a huge necessity. All their kids though? Theyre all encouraged to learn English and learn it fairly easily at a young age. Why would these people do that if they want America to speak Spanish ?
