Elway is now running the show. They already have Wolf(spelling?) who will be better. This draft is said to be deep at DT plus you have free agency. As long as Dumervil stays, Denver should have a complete defensive line next season.
A low first isn't that bad of a deal if they can get Harvin to agree to a new deal. They've really been unlucky with their receivers. Rice has been hurt a lot, and besides some hail marys, Tate hasn't been that special. It was either use a first on Harvin or Austin.

Staaaaaaaaacked!![]()
Boldin to niners for 6th rd pick per espn..
Anquan Boldin traded to the 49ers for a 6th rounder![]()
Giants put a 1st round tender on Victor Cruz. So the Giants will keep Cruz, or get a 1st round pick out of it. Win/Win for Jerry Reese. As much as I love Cruz, he can be replaced. Nicks will be up for a new deal next year, and he is a legit #1 guy. Cruz is a #2 who wants #1 money. I saw how much he struggled without Nicks last year. Rueben Randle is also waiting in the wings.
Is it just me or is that a great move by SF? I mean, how can you trade Boldin just a few months removed from a SB victory where he beasted all playoffs? He was their best big play WR (not big play in terms of deep balls, but big moments and key conversions) and now he's going to a loaded team.
and for just a 6th rounder too. Big bro lookin' out for lil bro
Boldin is saying he'll retire if he can't play for Baltimore. We'll see
Interesting development, for sure. I guess the Ravens aren't as high on Boldin as I thought.
Flacco will be exposed next season. Quote me gots
He may. But I'm waiting to see what the Ravens do now. They have a great track record of replacing the players they let go. They may have a great plan in mind. I'm excited to see what the young receivers on the team have.
I wonder if this means Jones is safe.
Ravens going to lose a lot of players at the expense of Flacco's deal. I think dude got severely overpaid for winning the Super Bowl. I know that's the goal in the NFL, but just because you do it once does not mean you will do it again. Your $100 million dollar QB can't throw the ball to himself.
True. As a Colts fan, you know all about how badly a quarterback's deal can hamstring a team. I've said way too many times to count that I hate that contract, and I was more than willing to let the Browns give up two firsts to overpay Joe. I totally agree with you there.
But Boldin's release had nothing to do with Flacco's deal. Joe's only counting for $6.8 Million this season. In fact, Boldin was counting for more (about $7 Million). This was the last year of his deal, so it's not like they were worrying about the future impact of Boldin's contract. Flacco's deal may end up costing Suggs and Ngata in 2014 and 2015, respectively. But right now, if any one player's contract led to Boldin's trade, it's Lardius Webb.
yeah great move for nothing by SF.
They're rumored to be the favorites to sign away Ed, as well. That would be insane.
Well, Manning frequently restructured his contract to help the team out when it was clear it was going to cause problems with the salary cap. I trust Flacco and his agent will work with the Ravens when needed to lessen his cap hit. That might help you sign/re-sign a player or two but it's still only a temporary solution. Trust me being a Colts fan I know both how important an elite QB is to winning the Super Bowl, but I also know how important it is to not stake your team's le shot on just one guy. At the end of the day you just don't want one player eating up 18-20% of the team's cap.
Damned straight. No player is worth that money. Not Flacco, not Manning, not Brees, not Rodgers. The 49ers were one muffed snap away from the Super Bowl with a first-round bust, and they were five yards away from winning it all with a second-rounder starting his ninth game. But they'll almost certainly forget that and give Kaepernick $22M a year after next season.
<3 Boldin, even when he was under appreciated in AZ. Great get by the 9ers.
Dumb as a rock aren't ya?
going into witness protection after the superbowl and coming back after the 49ers get Boldin
front runner
You were confident the 9ers would win. Lol
