I believe this as well. Have so since we drafted him.
Kawhi's doing well, but I don't know if Coach Nick watches the Spurs that much. He didn't seem to really know much about them.
He definitely does. He's always referencing them in his videos about how teams should do this or that.
Disagree, I thought it was very apparent that he watches the spurs and he even said they're his favorite team to watch.
He likened kawhi to Scottie pippen. He also mentioned that when kawhi goes on those spurts like he did in second quarter that he looks like the best player on the spurs.

Have to balance his drive to keep the foot on the gas of his aggressiveness, with the natural tendency to develop bad habits.
His 3 ball has looked pretty bad since he's opened up his game.
I watch all of Coach Nick's videos. He doesn't talk about the Spurs much at all. In fact, he only talks about them when they are playing the Thunder. He heaps praise on them when he does, but he's much more inclined to harp on the Knicks and Lakers.
I love his breakdowns, but he doesn't pay as much attention to the Spurs as he pretends to. It's clear he knows (comparatively) very little about them.
I watched the stream, and I know he did say they're his favorite team. But he clearly was caught up in this game and used it to evaluate the players' seasons.
For example: He didn't realize that Splitter was on his rookie deal (or that he's not a young up-and-coming player). His projection of Splitter as an Aldridge-like player comes from seeing Splitter hit the only successful jump shot of the season.
I have no issue with his projection of Leonard as a franchise player. I don't agree with it, but I'd love to see it happen, so I am very inclined to defer to someone who knows more about basketball than I do. My issue with his take on Leonard was for him to act like Kawhi's stat line was anomalous. It's pretty common for Leonard to be inefficient and to carry a poor plus-minus. His efficiency is probably his main offensive issue right now (which is why I bristle at people claiming he needs more touches). I am very happy about Leonard, and his improvement from just the beginning of this season is obvious. But I think people are failing to put his game into context.
I'm shocked at his offensive arsenal, I didn't think he'd be this good until he reached his prime in like 8 years. His mid range jumper is money, he can drive, post up, handle the ball, shoot the 3, defend, rebound very well, he's got one handed floaters, gets to the FT line and knocks them down. He takes efficient shots as well, and plays like he's been in the league for years. When you look at these shots get takes you realize he can get these over and over again.
Already he's too big and strong for most SF's to handle at 6'7 230lbs, and despite him being that big he's fast as and quick on the offensive end.
All this at age 21, Pop considers him a rookie too.
Whats really impressive is how Pop turned him from just a spot up shooter to the 2nd-3rd option on the team, Kawhi ran with it of course like it was nothing. It was like turning a switch off and on.
That's nice that he thinks that...but it's probably not accurate.
if there is something leonard needs to work on, it is his ball handling. of course, i would look awkward dribbling too if the basketball was nothing more than an oversized baseball to me.
I must've missed this...I heard him compare splitter to Marc gasol, which I agree is a good comparison minus gasols jumpshot.
Or Gortat minus the jumpshot. Really, bigs should get compared to Splitter. Tiago is the standard for PnR rollers.
