I like what I saw from Donald Thomas last year when he was filling in for Mankins. Looks fully capable of being a starter tbh
tbh i could've started at guard on the 2012 colts

but i do appreciate your opinion, hope he works out for us. should be an instant upgrade.

I'm not sure. Baltimore's owner has publicly said he wants to resign Reed, Baltimore can't afford to lose him at this point, and it's not like they used the cap room they created by trading Boldin to resign other players

Hopefully he looks at the team, defense mainly being depleted thanks to Flacco, and decides to take his talents elsewhere, just so we can all at Flacco.

I'm still all right. In 2009, the Ravens lost Bart Scott and Jason Brown, who were both contributing at the same level that Ellerbe and Kruger were. He replaced them with McClain and Birk. Two years ago, Ozzie got rid of Mason, Heap, and McGaheeight before training camp. He replaced them with Evans (ugh), son (and Pitta), Ricky Williams.

He replaces good players all the time. I have faith he'll do it again, especially with 12 draft picks. I won't be worried until after training camp.

Once again, I'm hoping for a huge contract. Two thirds next year would be awesome.

Still hoping Ed comes back, though.

Hey JoeTait75, is Josh Cribbs still as good of a return man as he was a few years ago? Patriots are rumored to be pursuing him and I'm curious how much of an upgrade he'd be in a return game that was abysmal last year.

The Ravens are still winning their division without much of a fight. Pittsburgh is getting murdered by the cap just as much as Baltimore is (if not more), while Boldin is the only really huge loss for Baltimore thus far (outside of Lewis obviously). Terrell Suggs being healthy + Upshaw having experience will somewhat replace Kruger. Losing Boldin OTOH makes Baltimore's receiving corps pretty weak and one dimensional though.

i gotta disagree with "without much of a fight" part. Cincy has a pretty nice young defense, and even though I believe Dalton is overrated, if they can get a compliment with Green, then they have a legit chance.

Baltimore had the cap room to re-sign one of them, but I don't think they wanted to pay Ellerbe $7 Million a year. Kruger's deal wasn't terrible, but I don't think he was worth it. I doubt they'd have made those moves even with a lot of cap room.

Boldin's trade is interesting, but I think it's important to note that they didn't need to move him. They were safely under the cap with him still on the roster. Also, they could have cut Leach and Jones and saved $6 Million. They traded Boldin because they believed they could do something more useful with the money. I'm interested to see what that is.

Agreed completely. Both players are overpaid now and neither one will be difficult to replace. If the keep Reed their defense will play at the same level it played this year given they're getting Webb back too.

I have a hard time imagining a better way to use that $6M after the playoff run Boldin had and the fact he added an element to their offense no one else they have adds.

Nice. I think a 3-4 DL of Canty, Ngata and Jones will be more than solid. McPhee and Cody will be good depth, and I still expect them to draft another lineman.

They have Tandon Doss, who was drafted to replace Boldin (who knows if that works out), as well as son to try to slid into that role. Depending on how they feel about Jacoby as their number two, they may be looking for a shifty receiver rather than a strong, over-the-middle threat. I've also heard Greg Jennings rumors...

To replace Ellerbe, I've hear the Ravens might pursue Ronaldo McClain. That would be something of a gamble, but I would be intrigued for sure.

I heard he was going to Arizona, tbh.

And no, he's nowhere near the level he was at from 2007-09. He's sustained several concussions, he fumbled six times last year and hasn't scored a kick-return TD since the '09 season.

I'm not writing him off completely, though. He can still perform at a very high level for stretches. He was unhappy his last couple of years in Cleveland (not that I blame him) so going to a team like the Pats might re-invigorate him a little bit.

    Miami releases Karlos Dansby

Basically trading Dansby for Ellerbe costed Miami a lot of money and I really don't see how it's worth it. I'd still take Dansby over Ellerbe for 1 season.

    Canty's deal is $8M/3. That's great value.

And I agree on Dansby. It would be funny to see him sign with the Ravens and essentially get traded twice.

The Giants get Aaron Ross back. I actually like this move. That should pretty much end their free agency offseason.
