I'd rather take a flyer on someone like this than one of the fossils like O'Neal or Brand.

If they land a whale FA, there will be monetary casualties. n In fact, they may have to renounce contracts just to get into position to pursue a whale.

Dallas is in a very good situation to keep him. Keeping the early bird rights they have on him will only eat $0.4M in cap space because he has a very low cap hold. They can sign some big free agent names and then re-sign him with the early bird rights.

He came on strong at the end of the season. In terms of shot blocking efficiency, he was one of the best with a block/foul ratio that was the fifth best in the league. Number one in this category, by a pretty good distance, was Tim Duncan-- so they'd be an impressive duo in that regard. Wright's PER of 21.03 was higher than Serge Ibaka's, DeAndre Jordan's, Larry Sander's, and Tiago Splitter's.

I like him, but I wouldn't pay much for him. He's not good enough to push Splitter to the bench, which is really what the Spurs need from a free-agent big.

Wright seems to be better than Robinson right now at everything except for rebounding. His FG% is significantly better (59.7% compared to 43%), his PER is nearly double Robinson's, and he's a much better shot blocker. If the Spurs win the le this year, I imagine the next goal would be to defend it next season. Robinson is still a project, and I don't think he'd help much. Seems to me Wright would be the perfect complement to Splitter... use Splitter against the bigger centers, use Wright against quicker small-ball line ups.

I don't see why this guy wouldn't be able to give you Splitter's production at an obvious dicount, tbh
