I would occasionally drive out to my buddy's apartment off Hunt Lane over the next few years and he and his GF and I would pay $9.95 for PPV games. That's right, you used to have to pay for the good regular season games.

May 31st, 99. First game I ever watched was the MDM.
Needless to say, hooked since then.
Pretty much the same for me. Moved to SA in '91, I was 5. Uncle used to take me to games because his company did the cleaning for the spurs offices. My number one team ever since.
right before they won the championship in '03. Good times.
93 or 94. Started watching DRob play and fell in love with his game.
I remember playing NBA Live '95 and thinking that Del Negro was a pretty good PG because I could occasionally have decent games with him.![]()
2004 season, sixth grade for me. I saw everyone making a huge deal about the 2003 championship and I already enjoyed playing it and my family loved the Spurs. I grew to love them so much that I already had multiple jerseys and other gear before the year was over and I was so heartbroken by how the season ended.
2007. Although they have been my favourite team ever since I was given NBA Live 2001.
1989-1990. I just started with Drob's rookie season. watching him was the reason I fell in love with the game actually.
I remember watching em in the mid 90's during Robinson's prime, but I really became a huge fan in 1998, the year after we drafted Duncan. Then we won it all the next year. Been a diehard ever since.
Also my first NBA game... though I would abuse people with Portland in that game. They were rigged. Sabonis, Wallace, Pippen, Smith, Stoudemire...
1991 for me. I'm a big fan of David Robinson.
I moved from the Philippines to San Antonio in April 1988. Boy it was hot and my first fast food was not a burger, but from Taco Cabana. Seriously I grew up playing basketball in Subic near the Naval Base and I've watched plenty of Magic and Bird, Jordan and Wilkins. But who are the Spurs?? 21-61?? What, do they play on their boots?? But comes Admiral fresh from sea duty, and did he turn it around 56 wins! I was a fan since then. I now live in Los Angeles, and have been booed plenty in Staples wearing my Ginobili jersey. But I love my Spurs. Why? Because I love basketball and the Spurs exemplify the best game of basketball.
ginobili joint spurs and 2003's spurs made me a spurs fan. best champ was 2005.
Living in So Cal all my life I've been watching the spurs since the 91/92 season. David Robinson was the reason why I became a spurs fan.
Intermittently by 1992, frequently starting in 1994. I was born in '83.
1973. I lived 4 doors down from Rich Jones on Willow Moss. He was one partying dude. I got to meet a bunch of old time players. I cut his grass for him. Jerry Grote, catcher for the Mets lived around the corner. I delivered the Express back then. Gervin was on my route. Got my drivers license in 1975 and started going to a few games each year. My brother and I could drive downtown, park, buy 2 tickets, a coke and a popcorn each for $10. I grew up with Captain Late, the Bruise Brothers, Kenon, Mitc ...good times!
Right around 1989-90...it was Robinson's rookie season. We had one of the old satellite dishes(big ufo looking ones) and I'd search for an hour sometimes through all the different channel frequencies, looking for basketbAll. I was 8-9 at the time and have always played ball. Living in Wisconsin, the bucks would have been the logical choice....however, I couldn't take my eyes off drob. He would beat the guards down the floor, catch alley oops dunks(reverse style), and block anything at the rim. I was hooked. even though the 90s were as tough as they were(tough as a teenager, when you care most), it was all worth it and still is to this day. I love this team and feel very lucky to have gone on the ride I have and continue on..
1992
After watching D-rob during the pre-olympic tournament that was held in Portland
Robinson will go down as my all-time favorite player..with Timmy closely behind. Hate to say it, but td would most likely be enjoying his successes in another jersey if it wasn't for David. Big Dave was/is the man. It's sad that he has been forgotten like he has, and with him went the true center position.
Been a huge spurs fan since I was born. Started watching the spurs since 1995.
2000, when my family first moved to SATown. Before then I was a Knicks and Heat fan.
mid 90s. I had moved back to Texas, and while visiting family in SA, saw the Alamodomeup close. I was a Laker kid since being born in Cali, and for awhile I liked both the Spurs and Lakers. I always liked Jordan but wasn't a Bulls fan because I had no connection to chicago. Then I want to say from the early 00s onward, my appreciation for the Spurs has grown while my disgust for the Lakers has also grown.
I have connections to both Cali and Texas, and prefer certain aspects of Cali over Texas. But ultimately, I love the family feel, under the radar vibe of the Spurs while I have realized that the Lakers have grown into an ugly, soulless thing under Kobe. I simply couldn't go on supporting them considering how y their fanbase has become. Maybe their fanbase was always y and I was too young to notice.
In fact, it probably doesn't make sense but I think my appreciation for the Spurs has grown more in the past few years, even though they haven't won . While winning their championships, I was always rooting for them hard even though I was just lurking here. I specifically remember '06 ruining my vacation with Ginobili's foul. But in the past few years, I suppose I appreciate it more because i realize the Big 3 era is coming to an end.
