When Horry put Nash into wood and Stern ran Amare off long enough for ya's to gain the upper hand and then pretended to nap while the tired old bag Duncan left the bench.
That year.
For me it was 1999.
I knew about David in the mid 90s and maybe even a few other guys on the team but I was too young to care about watching sports at the time and I was more into guys like Jordan, Pippen, Kemp, and Barkley. I probably went into full analytical mode during 2002.

1994, when ESPN coverage really started here in Brazil. Always liked the Admiral
Er, 2009/10 was the first season I watched. There's almost zero coverage in the UK so have to watch it all online. I think I missed the boat a little bit.
2008
I just turned on the TV and Doc Rivers was talking about how they had to show them respect because they were the defending champs. I guess the Spurs were down at the half or something like that. I really do not remember.

1992
I was a fan of the Admiral first and gradually learned about the team as the season went on!
Around 1993-94. I was only 5-6 years old, but I really liked the game of basketball and grew up loving the Spurs...
I watched quite a bit when Tarkanian came in & installed "Sweet Pea."
Back in the mid 90s... There was no internet and no NBA game broadcast in France.
I was reading monthly magazines (5 majeur, Mondial Basket...). I remember a front page with Duncan prior to the 97 draft, introducing the new big thing from Wake Forest and became a fan ever since.
It became much easier to watch Spurs games on French TV when Parker was drafted
1993 around the time when Utah was knocking us out of the playoffs. Vinny Del Negro was our shooting guard![]()
For me, it was during the '88-'89 season, when Alvin Robertson was still the Spurs' best player.
97-98 season, I think the drafting of TD had a little to do with it
As a young boy in 1973 - the year the Dallas Chapparrals became the San Antonio Spurs.
Mid 90's, on my first extended stay in the US... ESPN couldn't get enough of Jordan, and you basically had NBA overload. Really liked the Spurs from NBA Jam in the arcades, the Admiral was s in that game.
Became a Spurs fan around '92/93 when I first started playing basketball in (Australian) Year 6/7, but became a much bigger fan when the internet coverage really picked up around '98/99 - which was perfect frikkin timing reallyMeant I got to enjoy the first championship a heck of a lot more.
Same, my family were glued to watching Chicago because of Michael. I'm always loyal to home state teams, so when I saw out San Antonio had a team (found out when the Bulls played them) I was so happy I now could have a legit favorite team since I only root for home state teams.. Spurs, Rangers, Cowboys, Texas A&M, etc.
Sometime in the early 90's.
Late 80s-early 90s. Not sure the exact year. My earliest basketball memory is Jordan dropping 63 on Boston. That's actually probably my first sport's memory, not including stuff like little league.
Early 80's, although it was hard to watch them consistently... Basketball was shown maybe once a week on tv and usually featured LA or Boston...
Watching games in 2002, but from 2000 always followed their scores. Here in Slovenia there was no channel on which I could watch them play, so it pretty much sucked. First two years I was watching on Croatian tv when their game was on and then the high speed internet arrived to my house. Last 7-8 years I probably missed only around 100 of their games, what's pretty good cause of the time the games start here. My 4 years of high school were amazing. From 3 am -6 am watched a game and then went to school, I was like sleeping for 4 hours a day that time.
The first year I actually cared about pro sports was in the 97-98 season when Jordan won his last le aka Timmy's rookie season. Was a bigger Robinson fan than Tim to start. Nobody in my family/none of my friends were Spurs fans. Most were Laker fans, but my dad was a Laker hater so I picked that up early on. Liked the Spurs because at first because I was a big Raiders fan and the jerseys had similar color schemes. Yeah, dumb reason, but then after watching I became a big Admiral fan and was enamored by defense, which the twin towers brought.
Being that I was in LA and as a kid the internet was pretty limited, I never could really watch Spurs game unless they played LA teams or were nationally televised. I would read the newspaper sports section cover to cover every day, so I did keep up on standings/box scores. Was a big math nerd, so the numbers were my fav
like most of you, always love DRob, i became a casual fan in 97 and really got into them in 99, the year they won it all. i didn't mean to plan it that way, wasn't trying to bandwagon. i just finally committed to them instead of just "kinda liking them". before that i liked the bulls and the hornets
I actually started watching the NBA in the 90s, and it is 100% due to Reggie Miller. There was no NBA TV or anything in Argentina and ESPN only showed a few games every month. I liked all sports but I wasn't and NBA fan, until I saw Miller take over a game. I knew the league Stars of course but I didn't watch NBA on a regular basis. After that Miller game I became an Indiana fan (maybe the only one in Argentina).
Few years later a guy named Ginobili went to the Spurs, so I had to switch teams.
So, Indiana, the Spurs and Denver (I have family there and had the opportunity to watch them live...im talking Earl Boykins!).
