I downloaded a program called Handbrake to do this, but for every DVD Ive used on it, it won't allow me to do it. Anybody know of an easy way to get DVDs onto the iPad? As someone who has paid for my entire library movies, I'm not going to rebuy the things on iTunes.

Use DVD Shrink (http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-...D-Shrink.shtml) to rip the DVD, then use the output of that on Handbrake to make it iPad compatible.

If you have a Mac, you need to use 'Mac the Ripper' instead.

    I have the opposite question:

What's the best way to take video from an iPhone and display it on a PC?

My wife often takes video upside down and other times (smh) in portrait mode.

Export from iTunes in MP4 format, then use VideoLan (http://www.videolan.org/index.html) to watch it. Under the "Video Effects" option you can tell it to rotate it, etc.

I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and install iTunes -- that is one bloated piece of software. I use VLC -- didn't notice the rotate option. Would be nice to save the rotated version of the vid.

You can just pull it off the iPhone in Windows without iTunes. Just click on Internal Storage under the iPhone in Windows Explorer, and they should be in the DCIM folder in mp4 already.

Similar, but distinct question. Does anyone know how to rip just the audio off of a dvd, then divide it into tracks? I have a Mingo Fishtrap concert DVD that my buddy bought, but he just wants the music. Kind of like a live album.

I load these onto a PC in my living room and then stream them to another box with XBMC loaded. They play fine in VLC, but the playback is jittery in XBMC. Also, like I said, the wife sometimes tapes things with phone upside down. Or, worse, films in portrait mode -- so you have to turn your head 90 deg. to watch the damn thing.

Tried any of these? Not hard to make PCs Airplay compatible:

I am just trying to save you from installing itunes. I tried it about 7 years ago and it didn't do anything really all that functional for me and it KILLED my computer's speed.

iTunes doesn't slow down my comp at all, and I never close it. 11 is noticeably faster for me though, even before I installed the SSD. I do have 16GB RAM tho.

This has been my experience. I hate iTunes.
