That's good for Houston tbh. The Ravens were the only other team that really scared me as far as the Ed Reed situation goes.
Not that they'll use it, necessarily, but the Ravens should have enough money for both.

Them using it was more the angle I was taking. If they didn't go after an impact free agent with the cap space I was worried they would outbid Houston. With them looking like they are retooling the defense I think they will use that money elsewhere and not burn most of the rest of it on Reed.

Colts signed Matt Hasselbeck to be Luck's backup. Played in West Coast offense for most of his career, which the Colts are switching to. He's not a top shelf elite QB but he's been in the league for a long time and has played well so I can dig this. 2013 Colts are looking much improved already and we haven't even had the draft yet.

Ravens may move on from Ed Reed sooner than later.

Ozzie lets more player rule him. If Reed thinks the Ravens will blink, he has another thing coming. They know he's more likely to retire after next season than play three more. No way they get caught up in dead money from that.

That being said, it's possible the Ravens would sign both Huff and Reed. They have two safety spots to fill. I know that Huff is a free safety, but I think the Ravens are moving away from a FS/SS back end and more toward a WS/SS alignment. That could explain the Pollard release. They have Christian Thompson penciled in to fill Pollard's spot now. He's pretty much a free safety.

    Congrats on landing him.

I do think a $12M/2 year with $7M guaranteed is overpaying, though. But at least it gets Baltimore a better compensatory pick.

It's not too bad...I expected somewhere between 5 to 6 million per year. They needed to do what they had to do to get it done because the other options left on the market would have made letting Quin go look like a massive fail.

Bears offered a 1 year/2 Million dollar deal to Urlacher. He said it wasn't worth what he'd put his body through, at least not for Chicago

Urlacher's re ed. He basically gave away all negotiating leverage. He said he never expected to get the 6 million a year he asked for, that he was willing to go as low as 3.5 a year, and then yeah basically said he would play for 2 million for another team. His agent must have been screaming in his office that whole interview.

Wow, what an idiot. I guess he expected more out of sheer respect for what he has done over the years despite removing his own leverage. Probably didn't think at all tbh.

Idk why players get pissed off at teams asking them to take a "hometown discount" but then ask their team to give them more than what they can get anywhere else as a "demonstration of respect". It's insanely hypocritical.

Rodgers' new deal is going to be a doozie.

When it comes to value, don’t expect another nudging of the bar by a quarter inch or so. With Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco getting $20.1 million per year roughly eight months after Saints quarterback Drew Brees receiver $20 million annually, Rodgers could go as high as $23 million annually.
    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...g-in-new-deal/

There are rumblings of a $100M/4 deal or even up to a $30 annual salary.

Stupid teams will remain stupid, I guess.

That's fine value then. Now it's all up to Reed's state of mind. If he wants to play, he'll be awesome. If he's done mentally, he'll be a waste of space.

I'd love to see the Ravens open against the Texans now. It'd be awesome to see Reed when he's most motivated.

During the press conference, he talked most about wanting to win for Andre. I think he's motivated, and he gushed about playing with Watt, Cushing, JJoe, Kareem.

Great signing. Obviously not for the long term, steps up when teams like Patriots come to play, what have young players done against the likes of Brady and such? Got a good price too.

The Texans will never beat teams like the Patriots when it counts until they get rid of Schaub and Kubiak, tbh.... Reed changes nothing....

Schaub is not a big game QB. HOWEVER, this team has NEVER had a legit #2 reciever. Ever. They need a game changer on offense and if they can find one, that means less that Schaub has to do. Reed has seen the Texans' offense multiple times, and if Kubiak is smart, he would pick his brain about how other teams view it and what to change.
