Agreed. Like I said I was asleep at the wheel here. It's just a hard reality. I've spent time thinking of how I'd a had it work (before I realized they were hamstrung). Now these doors (almost all doors) are closed. And the bigger it gets, the more money rolls to the author, the less likely he is to grant off his grid. Ugh.
I'm not sure why you'd be so frustrated by the connection to an author you haven't read.
I'll tell ya:::I was discussing this series with my son a month or so ago, and I was heavily lamenting them going to this town (Woodbury?) and incorporating this "Governor" fellow. "It's in the comic books. They had to."
At that moment it finally got into my thick skull that the producers were bound by this original work. I was still thinking in the George Romero type of zombie effort where you're not bound by anything and all the ways "Walking" could have went and which characters stayed OR died. It's sobering with a governer attached to this series.
It's taken a lot of joy away for me.
One of the few similarities between the show/comic regarding Woodbury is that there is a character named the Governor.

Agreed. I thought the prison thing might've been a decent setting but this stupid Mayberry plot is just killing the show. I'm sure the book is fine but from what I've been seeing, it's almost unfilmable. When they left the farm, why didn't they head to Fort Benning? Are they really gonna believe that fat they killed in the bar? Why didn't they head to the coast? Further inland to less populated areas? Nope. They drove around in ing circles the whole winter.
Meh. Can't change the past. Do the season finale, kill off the guvnah, and move away from the comics please.
The show is so much better when the group is on the run. Staying in any one setting slowly ruins the show each episode they are there.
Anyone paying attention knew Merle would have a redemption and death to follow. He was a great character, I'm sure he'll be back in ghost-form or flashback form, like when Daryl hallucinated in season 2.
He wasn't given enough [air] time to get his character defined for any length of time. They're rushing for some gd reason. Where's the is the fire? , they're cleared for Season 4.

Well one thing is for sure about this season's finale. There are no legit spoilers out there. Being the dumbass I am, I've tried looking for spoilers three days going and I can't find . That's a ing awesome thing going into Sunday.
Yet they had enough time to have a Mandrea centric episode, a character that everyone hates except for feminazis and Oklahoman women. Don't forget about the "sit down" episode where they tried to agree on something but ended up agreeing on nothing, wasting everyone's time. I gotta see who they kill off on sunday and where the show sits before I swear it off.
I think Herschel or one of either Glenn/Maggie die. The whole cheesy proposal is the perfect set-up for someone central to that angle to die. I'm willing to bet it's Herschel.

I think they won't kill Carl because they spent this whole ing season trying to make him badass. him. They're also definitely gonna try to make us all sympathize for Mandrea by having her get raped or tortured or something; prepare yourself for this and don't fall for it. Daryl is too popular to be killed and AMC isn't that ing stupid. Glenn or Maggie would be logical cuz they're getting married but everyone would expect that(but I think they'll get theirs next season. Herschel, Carol, Blondie are good candidates to die.

It was difficult watching 2 episodes ago with the fellow from "Jericho." That series stays with ya. I still remember him grabbing those red punch pins and sticking 'em in that map. Just the sound of the pins being taken out one at-a-time.
Too bad it's much more cost effective to have them be sedentary and re-use the same sets most of the season.

I'd love to see them running as well. Opens all kinds of new avenues down which they could take the show. Plus, their budget should be astronomical considering the ratings
