What else were the Cowboys going to do? I think he had no choice.

What sucks is that it took this long to do the deal to free up the money. $11 mill of cap space has been freed up if i heard right.

Dallas had to resign Tony if we wanted to be able to sign their draft picks or any free agents. They have no money. Tony lost the game against the Redskins, but without Tony, Dallas is a 4 win team last year. He won games (see Cincinnati) for Dallas that we would not have won without him, that gave them the chance to play Washington. Dallas has no offensive line to block him, and with the we had, he had a good year last year. And at 18 mill, with the market what it is now after what Flacco got, he could have gotten 19 or more had he waited out the year and signed elsewhere next year. Truth is, without Tony, Dallas doesn't have a prayer at sniffing an opportunity at the playoffs. With him, there's a chance. Tell me who you're going to get with absolutely zero money (literally)?

I'd take my chances on another unproven young QB than going with a QB who is a lock to lead my team to failure.

You're not seeing the point here. They couldn't sign anyone without resigning Romo. They were too far over the cap. They had no one. Orton would do a LOT worse than Romo, and they can't sign any free agents because they have no money. Without resigning Romo, they had nothing. At least this way they can afford to get an offensive line in front of him. They have one of the worst O-Lines in NFL history..no one could succeed with them. If JJ doesn't get an O-Line now, that mother er is an idiot, and he deserves to lose.

“If you’re going to have a guy…that can handle a porous offensive line, it’s Tony,” Jones said. “Tony has some of the best percentages operating behind pressure situation of anyone in the NFL. If there were a place theoretically that you had to have a weakness with Tony Romo at quarterback, that might be a place to have it. You just can’t have it all.”

I know the Cowboys suck..I said it all last year...but the Cowboys had no choice but to resign with their current situation. Tell me what they were gonna do if they didn't? They couldn't even field a team hardly if they didn't. I'm not saying the Cowboys are going to get to the playoffs next year...but I'll be damned if an Oilers fan is going to talk about the Cowboys choking.

You don't give him 55 million guaranteed.

And I'll say what I want about the Cowboys. They haven't done since the Oilers left Houston 16 seasons ago. Meanwhile, Houston's new team has become a yearly playoff team and has made even more moves to improve themselves this offseason...without paying 55 million empty dollars to do it.
