I loved Johnny Valentine.
At prime he was just perfection. He came into the Cleveland area in the late 60's and early '70's and he just lit it up. He was the bad guy and set about a series of matches with Johnny Powers, our resident good guy. It was just incredible.
There was a German who also wrestled in Cleveland back then and had a great act "Hans Mortier." His closing hold was a full nelson and he couldn't release it. His manager "Red Berry" had to pry it loose with his cane.
tee, hee.
great thread. will scroll through the whole thing in 6 seconds again.
Valentine was one of the top 10 or so rasslers of his day. Powers a second tier guy.
The Crusher another top dawg.

Yep, The Great Mortier, the guy didn't last long for some reason. "Wild" Red Berry was a huge star out here on the west coast way back in the day.
Who really gives a amigo?
No straight man could ever follow professional wrestling in any depth whatsoever.
You are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo wrong it's comical. Tons of people out there love the rasslin'. Fake as can be and nobody really gives a .
I don't deny there are thousands if not millions of sexual men out there.
& Americans wouldn't have it any other way.
Why is everything you post totally stupid?
It's similiar to a soap opera or a movie, simply entertainment. If ya sit there playing..."that ain't real"...it messes it up, of course it isn't real, so what who cares?
I'm sorry to anyone that's offended, but you can judge someone's intelligence by the amount of wrestling they watch.
So you know a bunch of rasslin' fans who aren't too bright, right?
How about those who listen to jazz, ya know...
Jellyroll Morton
Kid Ory
King Oliver
Bunk Johnson
Satchmo
Miles Davis
John Coltrane
Charlie Parker
Charlie Chtistian
Wes Montgomery
How about those who read...
F. Scott Fitzgerald
Charles ens
Ernest Hemmingway
Kurt Vonnegut
Bernard Malamud
John Steinbeck
Robert Louis Stevenson
Norman Mailer
Harlan Ellison
Jack London
Edgar Alan Poe
H.P.Lovecraft
....it's called being well rounded. Now if all you do is watch the rasslin' and think it's real...hmmm? I can do the same thing with a mul ude of other interests.
Once you grow up it's all about the behind the scenes/politics involved.
Last edited by Avante; 04-02-2013 at 12:18 PM.
I don't know any wrestling fans, I'm just going by a stereotype that has been proven true.
EDIT: I did know a guy in high school who loved wrestling. He died in a motorcycle accident though; no helmet..
Well I totally disagree. I have a ton of interests and am just as knowledgeable there as I am with te rasslin'. What can you talk about? Go ahead what interests you?
