You don't give him 55 million guaranteed.

And I'll say what I want about the Cowboys. They haven't done since the Oilers left Houston 16 seasons ago. Meanwhile, Houston's new team has become a yearly playoff team and has made even more moves to improve themselves this offseason...without paying 55 million empty dollars to do it.
I'm not comparing Dallas to the Texans...Houston has a better team than Dallas does now..no doubt about it. I think they overpaid for Reed, but he's still a beast...and better than anyone in Dallas' secondary. All I said was Dallas had no choice but to resign Tony...it means the team having a chance to get better players around him.

Gonna suck to still be on the hook for him when he's cut in a few years.

Jerry would never cut him..he'd have to admit he was wrong...he'll never do that.

*sigh* .....ok I get it, Jerry has to remain compe ive enough to sell seats and make some profit on his stadium (since he put all his eggs in that basket)....but seriously wtf.

We all know Cowboys need to rebuild, but Jerry can't afford a rebuild, which is why he's happy enough with the current "will they or won't they (keeps people watching), maybe 1 or 2 playoff games if they're lucky" Cowboys team.

I have a hard time believing this was the best option.

I'd've just cut him. Seriously. Then I would've signed a player like Jason Campbell (or re-sign Romo if his price was low) and drafted whichever quarterback I liked best. That would have led to the same result as is going to happen now, but with a lot less financial commitment.

Teams need to stop letting quarterback hold them hostage. This off-season has been sickening in that regard. It's crazy that Flacco's deal is looking like a bargain.

But Flacco is a super bowl champ. Romo got paid for having exactly as many playoff wins as Matt ing Schaub

Yeah, and the same as Matt Ryan has. Apparently, Ryan sees Flacco's deal as the starting point in his negotiations with the Falcons.

90210 is right about it giving them flexibility this year...but after that it gets ugly. Why didn't they just give him a 3yr deal?

Easy. The Cowboys org. wanted us to be able to bump this thread until the year 2019 and beyond.

Honestly, the longer they drag that out, the more they can stretch that money out, the better off they are. But I honestly think they're just going to rework the deal again next year..they might have to. Next year, D-Ware has the same issue. :-(
