People think powerful businessmen will drop $300 million plus on a product that they leave to chance? They'll try to make it at as dramatic and entertaining as possible, if that means extending a series, pushing certain markets or protecting icons, they'll do it. I don't think NBA is as rigged as WWE. I'd say WWE is 95% scripted, they plan everything but probably let them ad lib certain moves or dialogue. There is a fair amount of spontaneity to the NBA which I appreciate. But ultimately it's a product.
there was a report on a bunch of international soccer games being fixed. People are ignorant if they think Stern was hired to protect the purity of the game. I imagine his main job, since he was a notoriously savvy lawyer, is to let the owners know what they can legally and contractually get away with, which helps them maximize their profits.
