D'Antoni coaches scared. Scared of blowing a big lead. Scared of Kobe. Scared of looking foolish. Scared of the fans wanting Phil. TNT even caught him saying to his assistant coaches that it's Kobe's decision when and if he wants out of the game. Veteran or not, franchise star or not, Kobe can't be deciding his own minutes. Kobe's a stubborn egomaniac. Of course he'll stay in the game and play all 48 if he thinks he needs to. And when is he going to think he doesn't need to, especially with Nash out and Steve Blake dribbling into turnovers? Kobe's got that messiah complex. The coach-player dynamic on that team is so ed up.

VDN does the same thing with CP3.... the Game 1 comeback in Memphis last year started when CP3 basically checking himself back into the game despite Vinny's objections.... plus last game, they cut to Vinny essentially being told how to coach by CP3 and Chauncey....

It's pretty funny how the two worst basketball coaches on Earth are confined to the same city and home arena, tbh

    But, that's a black thing.

Kobe has been white again ever since his attorney set Eagle on fire.

Have people got amnesia and not noticed the Lakers NEED Kobe to play 48 mins as of right now due to injuries and a push to make the playoffs. Regardless of what you mouth-breathers think this is the only way. Now, will this lead to success in the playoffs, my money is on no, however; we're too late in the game to worry about minutes and who's in and who's out. The Laker's need to address a competent back up for Kobe next year, or it will be his last.

it wasnt a "blow-out" until late in the 4th. even if LA felt safe with the lead and sat kobe with 3-4 min earlier- you gots would still all day

leading by double digits going into the 4th (and all the way up to until about half way through) doesn't warrant a 2 minute breather

only checking out when the Lakers were up by 20 with a minute to go.

Yeah, so basically Kobe = uncoachable.

Just another reason why he can't crack the top 10 players of all time.

This is precisely why he's the all-time leader in garbage points. LA has a 17-point lead with 1:15 left, and he's throwing up hook shots. It's just embarrassing. Okay, Bryant - so you can manage to jack up 20+ shots a night for 15 years without getting benched or shipped out of town. Just retire already.
