Even with his up and down season I think if we had him down the strech we probably win all 3. Agree?

They had Manu for the Houston game. His Ginobyl performance contributed to that loss as much as anything else did.

True but I imagine more times than not he comes through in crunchtime.

Biased. He had some big assist games when Tony was out that helped us assure wins. You could more legitimately say that he's been more inconsistent post-asb, and when he's been bad post-asb he's been worse that his worst pre-asb, but it's not like he's been every game. I'm not sure how Pop would do it, but imo he needs to work the rotations so that Kawhi is on the floor as much as possible when Manu is out there. Allowing Manu to be more of a distributor/creator, and Kawhi more of the scorer, would help cut down on Manu's mistakes, because he just doesn't seem capable anymore of being the number 1 option on the second unit. 1B I could see (with Kawhi being 1A), but not the sole #1 option.

Heresay. He would not have hurt though with that ISO O crap they were running, could not have done any worse than what was out there.

I'm just saying that the whole premise of this thread is wrong.

that's what I been saying. Manu needs to adjust his game a la Jason Kidd to be more of a distributor. But he still trying to drive through 3 defenders 1/2 the time. that's my beef with this guy. dude is stubborn as . his body is done.

and when he's doing that and his shot is off, he's just plain awful. and his shot been off post asb. at least he had somewhat of a shot pre asb

This. Some of the decisions he was making could've easily cost the Spurs any of those close games.

A good Manu makes Spurs so much better but Manu hasn't been good since his hamstring injuries so it's hard to tell Spurs would have been better with him lately.

It's likely that we won't see typical Manu for the playoffs.

He hasn't had his legs under him at any time this season. All the hamstring injury is going to do is set back his legs and confidence.

Legs are everything for a wing player. From shooting, to penetrating, to defending well. It sucks but it's reality.

Manu won't be the same playoff Manu when he returns.

people forgetting Manu choking in the Denver game that the Spurs lucked out on
turnover on offense then falling over himself on D leading to McGee wide open for a dunk that thankfully Green picked him up and Denver ignored him
and his horrible rotation that led to Utah going to overtime
hes failed in the clutch this season

I really see no reason that Manu's presence would have led to victory in those 3.

    Exactly.

This is the biggest reason this team won't be "fine" in the long run, as so many seem to think. People have this idea that they can get by a few 1st round games or potentially even the entire series without him and I don't disagree. But he's not just going to jump back in and immediately give them 30 mpg of elite per minute play and by the 2nd round, that combined with Neal not being right physically and Jackson being teetering on the brink of being done (I'll give him the playoffs before making it official), is going to be extremely difficult to overcome.

Yeah, tipycally when you play close games having 'your best/all of your' players helps you to at least have a better chance of winnning those.
