Sun-Times: Famed movie critic Roger Ebert dies
Associated Press – 3 mins 30 secs ago
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that its film critic Roger Ebert has died. He was 70.
The paper says on its website the Pulitzer Prize-winning film critic died Thursday.
Ebert was known for his thumbs-up, thumbs-down TV reviews that influenced moviegoers across the nation.
On Wednesday, he had announced on his blog that he was undergoing radiation treatment after a recurrence of cancer.
Ebert was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2002 and later had surgery for cancer of the salivary gland. He lost his chin and his ability to speak. But he later resumed writing full-time and eventually even returned to television.
Ebert started as a film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times in 1967. In 1975 he became the first movie reviewer to get the Pulitzer Prize for criticism.

God I love this message board...where else would comments like this be made after a man dies?
With that being said, Ebert for making a mockery of Ryan Dunn's death the day after the news broke out. Good riddance you no jaw having got.
"Death twitches my ear. 'Live,' he says. 'I am coming.'"
never heard of him. RIP, tho.
If anyone bothers to read his story - it is pretty amazing and the man was very inspirational to others and appeared to be a decent dude...but this is spurstalk so....reading something challenging isn't what people here do...
RIP
decent, no not decent, great nonbiased reviewer.
He had great taste for movies, not like 90% of the reviewers who are bought by the studios.
rip
He sold out as well. He vacillated on the "slasher" genre.
Evil Dead did him in.
So who's gonna be the guy that posts a pic of him sans the jaw?
He couldn't even eat thru conventional mode the last years of his life. But, he claimed it didn't bother him. I'd do the dutch if I couldn't have a "Nemo" once a week and eat 5 Guys once a month.
His reviews were dog his last few years, imo.
I've wondered before if theater snacks and lack of sunlight did him and Siskel in.
It was weird when Siskel died. You couldn't get a straight answer from it.
Good guy, usually agreed with his reviews. RIP. Now him and Siskel can about movies in the afterlife.
Wait, what?

I don't see the controversy imo. Anyone who drives drunk and kills people while driving don't deserve sympathy
I could've sworn he clocked out a while ago, like a year or so...
I can name a few
lol WICH YO UNCULTURED MARTIN LAWRENCE TYLER PERRY SELF!
