LOL, way too high. Come on. That's LeBron territory in shots per game.

It will be interesting to see how Kawhi responds once teams start to focus more on him, though.

I think 15-25% of our plays should involve him in some way (until Tony and Manu get back)

depends. if youre talking about plays called for him outside of corner threes, random cuts, and transition offense?? maybe 5-10 range. but as he expands his game in manu and Parkers absence that number should skyrocket.

As many as the game calls for. If he's getting good shots, getting runouts, he should take more. There isn't a magic number. But he should be involved as the ball-handler more than he is currently being used, especially with Manu not there. He might need to take a scoring role with the 2nd unit

Deserve? It's a fluid system where the open shooter takes the best shot available. It's not a ing day care center.

At least 15, since his role has been expanded in these past 2-3 months he's averaging around 11.5 FGA these past 20+ games. Pop has called him the future of the franchise and even Scott Brooks has said he thinks Kawhi can be an all star as soon as next season.

He's proven time and time again he can score against legit defenders, Sef/KD 2x, Battier, Deng/Gibson x2, etc.

Plays for specific players are still run though, throughout the game. With the way you're speaking, it'd be as if you thought that, say Lebron or Durant were magically dealt to this team, they couldn't expect to get any more shots than say Green, because "it's a fluid system" yada yada yada. BS. Kawhi has shown that he's deserving of getting more shots, it's not a virtue to go against the obvious.

The obvious assumption is that the two dovetail in this case. As someone who has watched the Spurs play the last few weeks, I'm not sure how/why anyone could argue against it.

Do you think Pop says "how many plays should we run for this guy?"

No. It's about what the defense looks like, and from there they go with what's going to be the most productive. You think Leonard deserves or doesn't deserve shots because he's either taking shots or he's not. It's often the stats that give us the impression that a player deserves plays to be run for them. Instead, the question should be whether or not running plays for a particular individual would make the team better. If you're not asking that question, you're not really getting it.

Then it's not about who deserves more shots. It's about whether or not making that person the focal point on offense helps the team.

15 shots per game??? Some of you all are crazy. He should shoot as much as Tony Parker? He already shoots as much as Manu per game, tbh (9.1 FGA per game).

Dude, "the two dovetail in this case" means "[Kawhi] deserves more shots" = "helps the team."

That's like the hypothesis of this thread. Either defend it, or argue against it, but either way

Based off of the last 25 games(since Feb.02), if he were given 15 FG attempts, he would average about 17 pts(16.7 pts, if my math is correct). Free throws not included.

He doesn't deserve any shots. He needs to show extreme aggression and impose his will on the game and take the shots. He's still too passive at times and stops being aggressive for stretches of the game. Until he learns to be aggressive every chance he gets, then he doesn't deserve shots set aside for him.

Sorry, you're trying to have your cake and have eaten it too. If Kawhi deserves it, the team's interest isn't the concern. If it's best for the team, then deserve has nothing to do with it. If the coach wants to give the guy some open looks because he's been busting his ass, that's different, and it might behoove the team to allow that, but it doesn't mean that it's best for the team to reward someone by giving them shot attempts.

The two cannot dovetail, except in your mind.

It doesn't need to be an TP or Manu or KL only. Attack with whoever has the easier matchup. If they want to focus on stopping TP attack with Manu and KL. It's not that difficult. The wrong thing to do however is attack the weakest matchup. The only time you can get away with doing that is if you have a superstar level player.

This is the correct answer and that's what is nice about Leonard starting to develop a scoring game. When/if OKC tries to take Parker out of the game like they did last year, we can strike back with Emanuel and Kawhi (and Timmy, of course).
