This game is the only freebie on the Lakers schedule, the rest all seem pretty difficult. This makes for an interesting game, because the Hornets\Pelicans haven't won yet against the Lakers but they gave LA a hard time this season at Staples. If the Lakers lose this, say bye bye to the 8th seed and a collapse to Laker fans.

Last time the Pelicans were hot and took a huge 20+ point lead. Anthony Davis, who was having a fine game, inexplicably didnt get a single 4th quarter minute and wasn't hurt. The hornets missed 2 dunks, got a third one blocked, had 2 24 second violations, and the Lakers had a big comeback.

If Stern were smart, he'd let the season play out and not affect games so the Lakers will get into the playoffs. But wait...it's Stern...so of course the Lakers will get in. K. Bryant will average 18 free throws per game the rest of the way...maybe 20 a game.

While I hope the Lakers lose, realistically, the Pelicans will blatantly tank again and Kirby will shoot at least 30 free throws, tbh....

Lakers aren't losing tonight.. at home to a terrible team that wants to lose out and grab a top 3 pick. And LA's desperate. This will be a blow out.

disagree. It may seem that way today. But after a while, people will realize the Lakers expectations were 99% hype. Most people with exception of few of us, just bought into the hype full throttle.

I never bought into it, so it doesn't seem like a huge collapse at all. I never thought they'd be more than a 5-8 seed at best. And with the injuries, coaching changes, etc, I'm actually surprised they are still in playoff contention. IMO the lakers overachieved this season. Call it a success.

    oh yeah, plus

    Lakers aren't losing tonight..

It's a win-win for Spurs fans. If the Lakers make it, we get to eliminate them from the playoffs. If they don't make it, laker gots missing the playoffs.

<5% chance the Lakers lose tonight.

It would be the single most embarrassing loss in the Kobe Laker era if they lost tonight tbh.

Untrue. The playoff game where he refused to shoot, to make a point to his coach/management, was such a display of gutless, self-centered whining that it has to be considered the most embarrassing game in the Kobe era. It was a public acknowledgment that Kobe, despite all his posturing, is unable to be the man...

A loss tonight would top that tbh. The Suns were the superior team in that series, Lakers going up 3-1 was a fluke.

The Lakers are fighting for their playoff lives against one of the worst teams in the league who need to tank games. Coming off an embarrassing loss to the Clippers, this is an absolute must win. Again, close to zero % chance they lose but if they do, it'd easily be the worst loss in the Kobe era even if it won't be remembered as vividly as one of Kobe's quit games.

Goal for the Pelicans is to keep it within 20 throughout tbh. That way Pringles plays all his guys 40+ mins.

Lakers medical staff is historically bad (ask Karl Malone), Phoenix has always been the best and the Lakers are the worst. Every Laker fan knows that.
