    WoW that's surprising but

Spurs fans are too sentimental with jax tbh, dude is washed up. He was not the difference between a ring or not.

Maybe He told Pop that Bonner and Blair Ball was ? Just kidding(I hope)

Honestly though this team just now lost about 80% of it's mental toughness, and is completely charminsoft going into the playoffs.

Gonna need Patty's towel waving to deliver more swagger for this team

We cannot sign a player for the playoffs if he was waived after March 1
That wasn't the point of my post. I just found it weird how two old verterans are waived so late in the season.

It's not really his play that Spurs will be greatly missing. Who else on this team has any tough swagger?

A bit overrated, Durant will do his stuff no matter what you throw at him.

i loved jax toughness but he was mostly a liability this year

Yes but difficult to overcome his poor play just for his tough swagger...I hoped like everybody that jax was coasting and would have a great PO run but no denying that he has been freaking horrible all year.

It would've been funny in the interview to hear Pop say he'd waive Manu too if he nagged him too much about playing

Jax won't get on another team. No one will offer him what he thinks he's worth and he'll sulk if underpaid. His at ude shows he can't be a veteran leader. He had a great run for us 9 years ago. But he's a lot older now and though his mind may say he's better than Manu or Danny, his body is saying no.

Why couldn't they just bench him? Just as a reserve body above anything, especially with our injury situation. I don't think one guy can damage a locker room that much with Tim being the leader.

Meh people said that no team would give Rasheed another chance as well and we saw how that turned out.

I could see him in OKC next year, in the Fisher role, with Sefo and him they'd have incredible defenders, he recorded a song with KD as well.

Like I said in the other thread, what allowed Jackson to have an NBA career was his fiery confidence in himself. You take that away from him and he's still in Port Arthur. Come playoff time, you want players on your team who think they are the best player on the court.

Ah well. Leonard being able to play 40+ minutes will make this less of an issue. But still shocking as , IMO.
Jackson stinks now as a player and his bad at ude thinking is better than he really is, is a detriment to overall team morale. Good thing he is off the team. Jackson was not going to suddenly roll back the clock and be an impact player once the playoffs started.

Can Pop please ask Gary Neal if he's better than Danny Green and then immediately fire him?
This allows Pop more minutes to give to Neal, Bonner, and Blair. Playoff opponents should be scared.

This is a huge blow to the Spurs le chances.

Never mind the question marks about what this does to team morale, who is going to fill the minutes, and if the Spurs are going to bring in anybody else (who probably wouldn't get minutes anyways).

It boils down to this: if the Spurs want to win the le, they are going to have to go through both Durant and Lebron. Kawhi is great, but he can't do it by himself against two of the biggest foul-drawers in the league. Jackson was the only other person who could reasonably fill that void which is now gaping wide open, especially with Diaw being out.

The most likely scenario is Green will slide over to fill some of the backup SF minutes...and that's going to fail miserably.

No silver lining here. This just sucks. And frankly, it's just as much on Jax for being immature about his role as it is Pop for having a short fuse.
I agree with this whole post. What in the world could be so bad that Pop would waive him this close to the playoffs. If he isn't producing offensively, just don't call his number, but he will be needed defensively for Durant and Lebron (if they make it that far) and does give options as far as small ball is concerned especially with Diaw being out. Now there's a gaping hole at SF/PF and little size on the wing.
