NFL = fcked
They can't take Ogletree when they have other big holes on the roster, especially when Ogletree is probably gonna require a 1st round pick. I think the sandwich they have at strong safety and they lack of depth at corner are bigger issues than coverage linebacker (and that's ignoring the giant hole they have at receiver on offense) especially with Fletcher coming back when he's their best coverage linebacker. When Fletcher started to get more snaps in 2011 it improved the defense so hopefully him being back changes things. Hightower iirc was pretty good in coverage at Alabama and was banged up a lot last year but I just don't see him every being good in coverage at this level unless there's a lot of athleticism we didn't see.
Jerod Mayo is also overrated as and never gets criticism for how incomplete a player he is. es and Hightower are particularly bad in coverage so I understand why they get the criticism, but Mayo in coverage is pretty awful. He racks up tackles because he's surrounded by run stuffers who force the ball carrier in his direction but he forces little to no turnovers and he's never stepped up as a leader on D when he was drafted to replace linebackers known for their leadership (Bruschi, Vrabel). One problem with the defense that never gets talked about is that outside of Wilfork it's a bunch of soft spoken pussies with no swagger who are programmed to turn the other cheek when teams like Baltimore and the NYG punk them.
This is a quasi-biased take b/c I lived in Pitt for a couple years, but Emmanuelle (sp?) Sanders is EXTREMELY UNDERRATED. He's deceptively fast, runs good routes, and is a great 3rd down option. On top of that he's young. Pats got their money's worth with him, imho. Apart from Limas Sweed, the Steelers are usually very adept at drafting hidden gem WRs.
Mark Sanchez rumored to be in the Revis deal to Tampa.
Steelers matched on the Sanders offer. Oh well. Disappointing but not a crushing loss by any stretch. Draft Kenny Stills instead tbh![]()
wow...the Rooney's actually swallowed their pride for once
so in the end, it was a very good power move from the pats. We need to draft a wr in the first round badly now though
I'm pretty surprised Pittsburgh kept Sanders. It was a 1 year deal when next year is gonna be a rebuilding year for them and unlike New England they have a great track record of turning 3rd round picks into good receivers (Sanders, Wallace, Brown all 3rd round or later). Seems like they should be hoarding 2nd and 3rd round picks to replace the players they've lost with cheap talent.
Oh well. I was never a fan of Sanders and didn't think he was the answer. I still say BB needs to swallow his pride and re-sign Brandon Lloyd since he's their best available option right now, as well as draft another receiver. Cutting Steve Gregory also seems like an obvious move when they have dwindling cap room and he's useless as .
already getting arrested
God damn what a in waste of talent
isn't that mcclain's 2nd or 3rd arrest in his hometown? hahaha why does that fool keep going back to that lil country ass town. stay yo ass outta there.
These ILBs who were beasts at Alabama under Nick Saban seem to turn into in the NFL.
McClain
Hightower
I'll wait to see what happens. That whole arrest seems really fishy. But, yeah, he's used up his last strike. The timing was pretty good, though. Baltimore still has time to draft a middle linebacker.
Are you already writing off Hightower? He's weak in coverage and hit a rookie wall (just like Jones) but tbh i still saw enough out of him to be optimistic that he'll develop into a solid player.
He's good at stopping the run and has the ocassional good blitz, but in today's NFL his skillset is only a little bit more useful than an asshole on your elbow. I'm basically writing him off as a player's who's strengths in no way warranted a 1st round pick. Brandon es part two more or less, a good player but never gonna be an every down linebacker.
Kam Chancellor (SEA) to get 5 year extension, 28-35 million dollar contract with 17 million in guarantees.

Seattle signed former Texas A&M QB Jerrod Johnson.

Rogers signs a $110M/5 deal. Not bad at all for either side.
Pay my $25 fantasy football entry right now and I'll call it even.
I'll even give you back the $25 if I win.
Welker is on pace for 1,072 receiving yards after one game and you seem to think the bet is in the bag
