While extremely strong on all points, he could have countered any objection that legalization would permit and cause widespread adoption by referencing Holland and Portugal, two countries which show that legalization doesn't turn a country or state into anywhere near 100% drug adoption.

Ignoring boutons lashing out as someone who agrees with him (lol) and returning to the topic at hand, the US's marijuana laws are just proof we're a plutocracy. Completely ass backwards laws stick around because somewhere along the line we made it so rich people profit from incarcerating US citizens when prisons are something that any country for the people would never privatize, thus a few rich private prison owners have the power to lobby in order to keep marijuana illegal.

Same thing with hemp only it's not private prison owners, it's other corporations that benefit from hemp being illegal even though it would largely benefit the US economy for that to change.
