    Finals - 1984.

    It's a loss. A total loss. There was nothing left. I thought it was the end. But, it was the beginning. And I've never had to look back again. I came close in '10, but, Kobe said: "I'll get it." And Kobe got it.

    Almost 30 years since that Summer of '84. All the championships since then, but, I still go back to that sadness, that calamity. It comforts me. That boundless misery sustains me. Because of what followed and continues to light our way to this very nite.

    How that man came back I'll never know. He'd come close to giving it away earlier against the Mavs only to get sacked in The Finals and thoroughly humiliated in Boston Garden. How he persevered I don't know. I just don't know.
