It'll be interesting to see the revisionist history a few years from now about the Lakers this year. Their inevitable loss in the playoffs will all be because of Kobe's injury, as if they wouldn't have gotten bounced even with him. The spin will make a hero out of Kobe at the expense of Pau, Dwight, etc....

This is the result and a perfect example of what likely can happen if Pop overplayed Manu, Tim and Tony on a consistent basis. It is why Pop can be overly cautious at times.
It can't be said with any certainty that this is the result of him being ran into the ground. There's no way of quantifying if or how much. Besides, he held up as a clear cut top ten player for a long, long time despite being run into the ground.

On the flip side, where has all Pop's micro managing gotten the Spurs the past five seasons? I realize they've had a lot of bad luck, but still, it's blown up in their face.

As far as the injury, good. They're the luckiest franchise in the history of North American professional sports and it's about damn time they had some bad luck (sure, they've had their share of injuries this season, but they've never had a season ruined by injury). Speaking of never getting bad luck, the Thunder's road to the 2nd round unfortunately just got even easier.

I wonder what Magic Johnson thinks about his Lakers now? He should have shut his piehole a couple of days ago. Earvin's son should have shut his piehole about ten years ago!

Magic Johnson tore his knee up his second year in the NBA, if I recall. Most of you guys probably would not remember that, though.

So who is a tougher 1st round matchup for OKC now? The Lakers without Kobe or the Jazz?
Neither will be a tough opponent.

Not to get too far off track, but consensual sex with your teammates wife isn't a good thing..

What about snitching on your teammate to the feds, even though the teammate in question had absolutely no involvement in your predicament?..

How about consensual sex with your teammate's wife versus consensual sex with some strange woman?

Not all "not good things" are equal. Don't be dense.

How about consensual sex with your teammate's wife versus consensual sex with some strange woman?
Who's talking about consensual sex with some strange woman? Or was that a hypothetical question, to which I'd say that we probably have the same intuitions as to the answer.

This injury could not have happened to a more deserving basketball player on the entire Earth.

We can only hope that his career is over and we don't have to see any further reinforcement of his cult of personality, played out on the national stage.

@LakersReporter: Kobe to Kupchak: "I hear what you're saying, but we have to get in the playoffs. I'm playing and there's nothing you can do about it."

I'm glad you played, Kobe. I'm glad you played.

obviously consensual sex with a strange woman would be better. TP forever hurt his leadership status with that move. there is a brotherhood to being on a team, and you obviously ruin the bros-before-hos directive if you need to use a teammate's wife as a dumpster.

that being said, Erin Barry >> Eva Longoria imho.

Was D-Fish hit by a car last night too? I'd have organized the victory parade myself tbh.
You know, I actually kind of hate Fisher less since he was the only one with the balls to stand up to crooked ass Billy Hunter. Too bad rest of the NBAPA stood behind that fat and took their Katelyning lying down. I mean Stern didn't even ask if he could on their faces and he sure didn't need to jerk himself off after they left.

hater a Ten Commandments fanatic? Views rape and adultery as equally sin-y?

don't know dude, I think most people view one as worse than the other, and so wouldn't have too much trouble imagining a situation in which formerly good person A commits Sin A (adultery), while formerly good person B commits Sin B(rape), but because Sin A is not considered as reprehensible as Sin B, people will generally continue to consider formerly good person A as still good, while still, without being inconsistent, considering formerly good person B to be a ing piece of .

ts;dr The inconsistent you think you're commenting on doesn't actually exist, and so neither does your point.

Video of Kobe talking about it in front of a famous Jacob Riis quote. Wonder where the Lakers came up with that?
I know I am late to the party here but I saw that and had the same reaction. D'antoni is pretty lame.

Saying Erin Barry's denial of having sex with Tony Parker is pretty compelling, is a gross understatement. She says she is a dedicated Mom, and the accusations are "ridiculous." She says that anyone who actually knows her, knows it's untrue. Maybe Brent was the one in that marriage that went astray. I always thought Tony and Erin were victims of Eva's high paid publicist. That Tony had sex with a teammates' wife is far from proven. I've always believed it was bull .

    He said it.

i remember big arguments about it on the ESPN Spurs board with Laker trolls. Kobe said everyone has sore knees in reference to Duncan's swelling. I read it and stated that larger men take more pounding.

so yes the he said it, Walter...
I just never heard or read that he said that. I didn't think that he would dis Tim like that. I'd like some proof before I go off on him about it.

Lol calling me a Parker fan while I'm far from being that.

I have no problem saying that players like Duncan or Ginobili are more likable than a player like Parker. It isn't of course a black or white thing and while Parker is remarkable on certain aspect of his personality, he is also a bag for other ones.

Regarding Bryant, there are a big part, way bigger than for Parker, of his personality and of his past actions I find crappy. I'm not sure why you are trying to call me out on that...

Not trying to call anyone out bro. My point is unless you know someone personally. You really have no idea if they are good or bad. Plus you know most people fall on the gray area. A lil good and a lil bad.

Persnally i like parker a whole lot more than kobe. But still I refuse to call Kobe a bad human being. Hes pretty average to me and what happened to him is a tragedy and wish him the best.

I was just surprised you so easily judged kobe as bad. Imo hes pretty average. And again hes the king of international basketball s om. Nobody is even close to him.
