He's the coach, not the GM. He gave those guys a chance early on. They failed chronologically. Obviously the front office did not want to change them out. I wouldn't a played them either. We didn't have "2 minutes" anymore. We still don't. I looked at the box score and D'Antoni piddled a smidge last nite with those losers. So he's affected now and giving in. And he was this||close to making a statement.
Oh trust me Morris is still garbage in my book ... but when you lose the players we lost you just say "here is what I need son, dont try to hard and give me two minnutes of hustle and defense". Didnt Morris even shoot an airball and a side of the back-board? You are right he blows but he can run around and defend for 2 mins.

All I asked for was 5 min of rest time...I don't care how ty your team...is 1 minute rest each quarter too much to ask? really 1 ing min of rest?
It works both ways. You really think "1 ing min of rest each quarter" is going to protect you from an Achilles tear?

The other thing Cully, is it's his M.O. he loves to run short rotation and I understood when the season started and we had ALL this talent "on paper" but as the bodies started dropping he had to find a way for 2 minutes a quarter if he used those only to rest Kobe he is still playing 40 minutes down the stretch ...but those 8 minutes would be impactful maybe he still gets hurt ...but it's still an indictment that he is so slow to adjust. Jamison gets no minutes and only injury allowed Clark to shine ...he also was not using hill enough here or in NY ... none of those guys are stars but can play a role ...one of the thing PJ was a master at ... I ahted his sub patterns but he found roles for every vet he just hated to play rooks.
You're still trying to put it (Kobe's injury) back together using the [time machine]. happens. It's over. You have to move on. Bryant turned in less than 24 hours, grabbed some jacks & timbers and has already started back down. Go with him, Killa. He needs us now. When we needed him, he never failed us.

Exactly. It was Bryant's time. Our time. We've been whistling past a dozen grave yards since Magic in '92. I will not lament this. No.

fact is early on everyone failed Chronologically...everyone except Kobe. ...Dwight failed miserably and so did Pau...Nash just looked lost out there...Artest couldn't keep up...so in all fairness we can't just blame those bench scrubs...our starters were ...in hindsight Firing that ing potato head was the worst decision ever made...dare I say the Princeton offense may have been the answer and we all knee jerked to it...

I'm not denying the loss bugs me ... but what I am discussing is the effectiveness of our coach. I have defended him to some degree (no camp, injuries etc.) but his failure to:

    1. Incorporate Pau
    2. Develop a solid rotation
    3. His media foibles (PJ owned them)
    4. And his team not improving at all on defense
    5. Failure to adjust his offensive or defensive schems until we were almost dead and buried ...
    6. Taking a stand on Kobe's minutes and ego

Are all things a coach can control. Imnot lamenting Kobe as much as Lamenting the hiring of two bufoons to follow Phil and that is on the Buss family + Mitch but he is steering the ship.

It ain't over. I believe I'll need MN. or TN. If it gets down to Weds in Los Angeles, I won't make it. And I'll make an ELE to that point.

yes I do..because one minute is really 3 min each Q. but you miss the greater context of the argument. Last game Kobe got hurt twice leading up to the Achilles tear and not once did Pringles even think about taking him out. It's a dereliction of duty to your players in my opinion...Dantoni was trying to salvage his coaching career and reputation and the expense of Kobe...at least Potato head had the balls to sit Kobe down...again if Mike Brown is coaching this injury doesn't happen...in fact all Laker fans are to blame for this..because like blood thirsty hounds we clamored for it..when Mike Brown challenged Kobe and sat him on the bench during a game we put on out KKK sheets and took to the streets to lynch him...

I feel a sense of responsibility myself for getting Brown fired it was out complete undoing

Fully exonerated? Not on my watch ... he had a system that was not working well ...maybe it would have but cant blame Mitch for the quick hook and he was a media clown I hate coaches that are smart like the two Mikes ( D and B) but sound like bufoons in press conferences.

I agree the players have not been beat enough tbh ... Haters here blame Kobe or Dwight and Give Pau a golden pass. But these players under-achieved including the starters and even Kobe on defense at times. When the stock goes in the tank you dont blame the front line employees the CEO, CFO and EVPs get that blame and so Mike D, Kobe, Dwight, Mitch and Buss took the brunt ...but Kool is right the players need their fair share as well ...

Mike B was never meant to be a head coach on a high level team ...smart guy great assistant but head guy for us? No.

And he's not Phil. Phil is gone. He did not want to coach us. He quit, Killa, not once, but twice. We gave him a second chance and he quit again.

There are a limited number of quality coaches in this league. Popovich used to be one of them, but, he lost his way and is now consumed with Quija Boards, poking dolls with pins, and all manner of machinations. He ed around so bad that he missed his chance to play us sans Kobe, or, Utah because he was too busy running around & away. Then you have Carlisle in Texas. And the cream de la cream:::Rilstra in South Florida. That's it. 3. The remainder you can put in a burlap sack and pull one out blind. It won't matter.

He gave Pau a chance. Gasol has been drifting in the since Dallas kicked his ass up around his ears. He's a baby. A chicken , and Killa, everybody knows it, it's just that it's a union and they're sparing him, but, you can read between the lines.

We'll not improve on defense until we change out the players. We have nary a player that can stay in front of anybody. Again, Killa, everybody knows it, it's just that it's a union and they're sparing us, but, you can see it for yourself. It's embarrassing.

^ not true Phil was excited at the prospect of coaching this line-up. It gave him everything he coveted...he still had Kobe, he always liked Artest...he now had a mini Shaq, and he knew how to utilize Gasol...he would have turned Nash into a superstar version of D-Fish...Phil even said he thought he had the job and they would give him the weekend to mull it over...instead ego's got in the way and they hired DanT..even Dantoni was surprised and wasn't ready to coach...it was a complete failure at the top and it cost us big-time...and if Dwight leaves in the off-season Jimbo will be run out of town by Laker faithful...

It's true. And we were never told why he was fired. He was bought off with the $ and sworn to secrecy. "he wasn't the right guy for the job." That was the mantra. "he was a dumb looking black man." That was the truth. Whether he could coach us or not we'll never know.

He was dumb looking but I'm not so sure he was actually dumb.... that's the unfortunate underlying typical sentiment...sometimes autistic people are the most creative in the world and now that I look back on it Mike B actually sounds like he had a plan..He actually studied the offensive and defensive sets he wanted to run..and we all just sort of thought since we had these big name players it should automatically work...well we we're ALL wrong...I think at the end of the day Mike B was probably the only right person even though he seemed dumb...it was just a complete Laker up job as I've ever seen

He had a laundry list of demands. It was insane. A year-to-year contract? that. Bring his own heir apparent? that. Stay in LA for some of the road games? that. He didn't want to coach anymore, Kool. He wanted to play grab ass with the moment.

Unfortunatley Dwight ain't going nowhere. He'll use that extra $30 million to give to the IRS so he can clear the $100 million.

The one thing he did have that is understated...that neither Mike B nor Mike D had was the respect of the players...that means more than any of his demands...

He's a patented loser on a myriad of levels. But, Milty says we can't let him walk and then use that money, so, I'd sign & trade him for the best ballast we can garner. It's a moot point though. He's staying.

Agreed. Last night, even though Dwight had a nice box score game, there was fear there. Fear of the Bag as he summoned some of his historical form late there in the 4th. And even though the Lakers theoretically match up well with the Spurs, Howard isn't ready to step into the ring with the Bag and throw hands. The Bag don't sing and dance, and he sure don't in' smile. Howard ain't ready to stare down that challenge. Not yet. And maybe not ever.

Your entire team failed. Kobe failed. So what does it matter? They suck with Kobe on the bench or on the court, Pringles needed to find him some rest and he failed miserably. You don't play a 35 year old in his 17th season 45mpg and routinely the entire gamePERIOD. At least Kobe may still have been around for the Lakers' inevitable sweeping at the hands of the Thunder. D'antoni is a ing joke and is seriously one of the main reasons the Lakers suck so much ass. Accept it.
