No.
Its an insurance signing.
I see nothing wrong with it.
You sir clearly are talking that bull . Lakers didn't stand a chance with Kobe and sure as don't without Kobe & Nash.
As others have said, it's probably the best of what's left. Despite his warts and the playoff lols I've always been a fan. He was a lot of fun to watch in the early 00's.
He'll see some minutes in the first round with Diaw hurt and Jack now gone. I think that will be the barometer for him to see if he can help some on the second unit.
Overall...this is a Jack replacement/Manu insurance. If he can burn a few minutes without being a liability while Leonard on the bench then he's more than done his job.
Would be funny if TMac outduels Durant in the 4th quarter in a WCF game![]()
So he can play in the postseason? So if a player gets waived he can't play in the playoffs for another team, but he can if he hasn't played in the NBA all season? these rules make 0 since.
That being said Sjax has been one of my favorite players ironic that he is replaced with my brothers favorite player (he is a Rockets fan). Great signing. Solid passer good shooter.
Keeps Kawhi from dropping on the court from exhaustion can give us 10 minutes a game off the bench, keeps Green as a 2 guard and keeps Neal off the floor a little longer. He has a ton of experience and can still play.
In the videos, he kind of plays like Diaw except he can dunk without requiring back surgery afterwards. The passing will be the thing that helps him fit if he plays any real minutes.
Not a difference maker but I can't think of anyone else who could potentially fit with no prior games.
That would be a fitting to the oddest regular season i can remember as a Spurs fan.
cd021,
McGrady is eligible for postseason play because he was not on an NBA roster prior to March 1st. He was playing in China and thus eligible.
Anything that gets Bonner off the floor I'm down for.

His head is shrouded in mist.
That's so true. Very odd. For a team that prides itself of being boring and out of the spotlight. The spotlight has found them this year and it hasn't being boring.![]()
If T-Mac has a flash back for one game of the playoffs that would be one of the biggest surprises of this season
I'm not confident in him, but I'm definitely rooting for T-Mac. I don't expect him to be a big contributor. Like everyone said, he's another body to throw out there.
One other thing that could be really interesting about this signing. What was the biggest Thunder adjustment in the WCF last year? Thabo on TP. Which pushed Westbrook into covering Green/Neal... Westbrook on Green/Neal is an acceptable trade-off for Selofosha limiting Parker. What happens if you switch Green with Mcgrady? Thabo is a 3 and D guy - McGrady can handle that assignment defensively. Offensively, Westbrook is 6'3"; Neal is 6'4" ; McGrady is 6'8" and can do more than spot up shooting (unlike Green). That may not be an acceptable trade-off any more.
The most shocking thing about TMAC is that he's only 33. My God, I thought he was like 80.
Well it could have been worse...they could have signed Finley.
All jokes aside, T-Mac was my favorite player growing up as a kid. He and MJ might be my favorite players of all time tbh (outside of Spurs players). Still have both his Raptor and Magic jerseys in my closet. Will be weird to see him in a Spurs uni.
But he was the most potent scorer in the league for about a 5-year span. When he was on, he was un-guardable. Dude could just light it up. Let's reminisce, shall we?

Honestly, what's the worst that will happen? He plays poor, take him out. It's a good experiment to see how he will handle Pop's offense. Hats off to R.C. Bufford for experimenting with another player no other team will.
He can still shoot and his legs are relatively fresh plus the spurs won't ask him to play huge minutes so its a good pickup if he sees playing time. His confidence level may even be infectious to the other bench players especially with a lack of killer mentality that we have in the second unit.
has t-mac ever been past the first round?????????!!!
Yep, that's weird to think he is two years younger than Ginobili.
