Everyone and their mommas know the Spurs' playbook by now... The Spurs simply have to execute...

On another similar type of analysis on this morning's net analysis, they discuss in detail the weak side motion pick and roll. The author notes that as successful as the play is, it hasn't been used in the last several weeks and he can't figure out why. He wonders in print if maybe the Spurs wouldn't have lost so many games recently if they had run it.
The guy may be right, but it made me think of two observations:
1, the pick and roll depends heavily on the speed of the point guard. When that is unavailable due to injury, the play will likely not be called as much.
2. Since it is so well known in the league that this type of play is the basis of the Spurs' offense, the defenders in a 7 games series are primed to get into the passing lanes and break up the plays, which is remarkable easy when they know what to expect.
Of course, none of the above is as much fun as blaming a loss on an individual player, mind you...it is far too objective for that kind of fun. But it does seem to happen with considerable frequency in playoffs once an opposing team figures out how to stop it.
