and you can say whatever you want, but when the Spurs needed buckets in Game 7 in the second half, Duncan took over and went to work, meanwhile Kobe is getting his ass bailed out by his teammates while you cling on to his rebounds

he helped in other ways besides scoring

Kobe had 10 points in the 4th quarter - the most in the game. He also got the Celtics in foul trouble which was key because the Cs were in the penalty early allowing the Lakers to control the game. So say what you want about 6-24, he came through in the 4th, and did other things than making shots.

LOL, how many of those were FTs? And no, he didn't get the Celtics in foul trouble, the zebras did.

37-17, I am shocked you would bring this into the debate.

Like talking about the 4th quarter FT disparity between Game 6.

I drew a parallel between game 7 and game 6, then you said I said game 7 was rigged. The only way that would have been a logical conclusion from you end is that you think game 6 was rigged, Ang by comparing any other games to tht one particular game is akin to calling the other games rigged

Lets take a look at elimination games in the 05 and 07 playoffs - the years the Spurs won rings. By elimination, this means the last game of the series in which a team got eliminated.

    2007 NBA Finals - Game 4

    Duncan: 12-14-3 on 4-15 FG, 4-10 FT
    FMVParker: 24-7-1 on 10-14 FG, 2-5 FT
    Ginobili: 27-5-3 on 8-19 FG, 8-11 FT

    2007 NBA WCF - Game 5

    Duncan: 21-7-3 on 7-14 FG
    Parker: 21-5-5 on 7-13 FG

    2007 NBA WCSF - Game 6

    Duncan: 24-13-1 9blk on 11-19 FG
    Ginobili: 33-11-6 4stl on 11-17 FG
    Parker: 30-2-6 on 11-27 FG

    2007 NBA 1stRd - Game 5
    Duncan: 23-12-5 on 10-19 FG
    Finley: 26-4-1 on 9-14 FG, 8-9 3PT

Duncan was carried offensively. He was never the leading scorer in any of the elimination games during the 2007 playoffs. This is supposed to be one of his "the man" rings that Spurfan uses to put over Kobe, with him averaging 22-12-3 for the 07 playoffs - basically a Pau Gasol type line with an extra shot or two. But when Kobe averages 29-7-6 and 27-6-5 in the 01 and 02 playoffs, that is not as good as Duncan's 07 ring because he wasn't the man? Stupidity, but that discussion is for another thread. Duncan did not carry the team but I don't blame him, it's a tough thing to do. Parker and Manu had their moments in th elimination games. Duncan just sat back in the Finals in 07 and shot bricks but luckily Parker had it going not just in the elimination game, but all series long.

    2005 NBA Finals - Game 7

    Duncan: 25-11-3 on 10-27 FG
    Ginobili: 23-5-4 on 8-13 FG

    2005 NBA WCF - Game 5
    Duncan: 31-15-4 on 14-24 FG
    Ginobili: 19-8-6 on 6-15 FG

    2005 NBA WCSF - Game 6
Duncan: 26-9-5 on 6-21 FG, 14-17 FT (Not going to cry about FTA like the other got did)
    Parker: 14-2-3 on 6-13 FG
    Ginobili: 13-6-7 on 3-6 FG

    2005 NBA 1stRd - Game 5
    Duncan: 18-11-5 on 8-15 FG
    Parker: 21-3-7 on 9-17 FG
    Ginobili: 18-9-4 on 4-9 FG

Finally! He had one game where he was clearly the best in an elimination game during the 2005 Playoffs. Funny how in Game 7 in the Finals he shot 10-27 and grabbed 4 less rebounds than Kobe did in his game 7. How can a post player shoot 10-27? 6-21 FG in another one, 6-21? Duncan did not fully carry his team inthr elimination game for this year, except once. Ginobili and Parker remained efficient while Duncan was building a brickhouse at times. 24-12-3 playoff average. Great numbers, but not all-time great for sure. Keep in mind he shot 46 FG% as a Center/Power Forward. Weak "the man" ring I say.
    Dropping deuces per par tbqh.

Wait, is it Avery Johnson, Manu and Parker, or what? Or are you saying Avery Johnson, who had an astounding playoff winshare in 99 of 1.5, and regular ws of 3.9 (compared to 3.7 and 8.7 for Duncan) is the same caliber of Manu + Parker?

You know, if you could have said Duncan can't win without Popovich, and I would have agreed with you. Because you know what? it is true. Popovich created multiple fantastic systems, ones that were big man dominant (99), big man + outside shooting (03), and big man + slashing (05), or slashing + big man (07, different from 05 in priorities and main point of attack), each using Duncan as a major component.
