lol a thread full of jeebo s complaing about gay people
lol religious people incapable of hiding their true colors
lol bible thumpers being the most hateful people in this country
Not just this country ...all countries. Religon based wars have probably killed more people in the course of history than money, land or oil combined.

Agreed tbh. Religion leads to hatred, genocide, war, greed, corruption, etc.

If jeebo s are so annoyed at the sudden outcry of gay tolerance, they should blame themselves for decades of persecuting gay people and making the LGBT community something people feel sympathy towards.

Jon Jones himself is probably gay as nearly as UFC fighters are. Straight men don't enjoy roling around on the floor with other men while wearing spandex.
LOL ... I know some people have decried this thread. But this thread has had jokes, social commentary, trolling and some decent debate. I dont see why people get so worked up ...people should discuss the religous, social and even comical side of the issue. Gay & lesbians tell the best gay jokes anyways. As long as you dont espouse hate it's all good ...and believe me before college I was a bit of a phobe ... but my RA my freshmen year was gay and was cool so you realize as long as they don't hit on you who cares? And if you are Christian shouldnt you do your best to "save them"? I dont get hating them ...even if you disagree or don't "understand them".

In the Christian mind saving gay people is persecuting them, not giving them equal rights, and referring to them as the devil. Idk how many Christians I've heard convince themselves that keeping gay marriage illegal saves gay people and leads them to release their demons.

But that is the part of religon I dont like. The my way is the only way. If you love God and God loves his children ...then how can you hate 10% (is it still 10%) of his flock? I also dont like religons that are convinced there is only one true gospel. And decry other faiths even though they believe in God as well. Makes no sense.

And aren't you supposed to hate the sin not the sinner?

I can't tell if you're being purposely ironic or not...

Don't you see how stupid you look complaining about intolerance while at the same time calling Christians "jeebo s?"

If you're just trolling or being purposely ironic, my bad, and carry on. lol

And I think it's pretty weak for a relatively obscure player who's on the brink of retirement to come out. He honestly comes off more like an attention than anything else.

I don't think Broussard has to spologize to anyone for what he said. Its his RIGHT to believe how he wants. He doesn't have to celebrate someone being gay. Just like Collins has the right to be gay, Broussard has the right to his beliefs. He shouldn't be fired for it either.

LOL For the most part those wars used religion as an excuse. Take religion out of the equation and they will still find a reason to go after each other. Those in power used people like you who only see the pretty shiny things that distract from the bigger picture.

Exactly. Collins has the right to believe his way and so does Broussard. They both used the media to express themselves and neither should be punished.

"hate the sin, not the sinner" is made up bull for Christians that want it both ways.

Loving Bible God makes it incredibly clear what to do with teh gheys

    Leviticus 20:13

    King James Version (KJV)
13*If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

I don't think anyone on this board seriously expressed anything against the outcry of gay tolerance. I know I haven't been one of the people persecuting gay people. But there's a difference between supporting a gay person's right to be who they are and supporting the suppression of peaceful views to the contrary. I think most of the debate in this thread as over that distinction.

No. That's not true. Very few major wars were based in religion. Most were based on conquest. Religion has always been an excuse for people to do what they were going to do anyway. As Marx said, it makes people reluctant to question their lives because they've been taught that this life doesn't matter. They don't look for anything better. Religion is a tool for mind control, but it in and of itself is not the cause of destruction.

You know, that Leviticus quote almost makes it seem like bisexuality is wrong. It pretty much screams, "Pick a Team!" to me. Not that that makes it better, though.

The fact they were able to use religion as an excuse does religion no favors.

Gay people couldn't be worse than bible thumpers. They are THE WORST kinds of people to be around. It seems like everything that happens to them has something to do with what God planned or what God shuns away.

Yeah, thanking god after every accomplishment is the second-worst thing an athlete can say in my opinion after misuing the word "humbling."

There is nothing wrong in that, imo. That is what they believe and that is what powers them to win. If they mean it, then good. If they don't, they can at least continue performing as athletes. What I hate are those people who impose their religious beliefs on others.

To me, that is much rarer in mainstream media nowadays than atheist imposing their lack of beliefs on others. People who admit they have faith are considered ignorant, and if asked to explain their views, they get attacked. Most people outside the bible belt see bible-thumpers as crazy. The WBC is almost universally panned. That's not the case for people who constantly go around and act like being smart inevitably leads to being atheist.

I mean, David Robinson and Manu Ginobili each have pretty well-defined stances on religion. But that doesn't tend to come out much. Yet people still view Robinson's faith in a bad light.
