You think you're tolerant and gay-friendly? You're not half as gay-friendly as I am. I'll blow Jason Collins right now while wearing a turtleneck. What you got?
2013 and people still grasp at reasons to be offended by others coming out the closet. smh...

How is that gay?
Dennis Rodman disagrees
Agreed. He didn't go Tim Hardaway; nothing he said was of hate.
I'm sorry. I don't get the reference. Rodman was before my time, although he did play basketball with my brother when they were kids.
Pretty much what I'm getting from all this
Fine if you say it was just the excuse people were still killed in Gods name ...if some king or emperor had selfish motives doesn't change the fact that the soldiers in the fight tended to cling to religious ones.
You say that as if that supports your previous argument; it doesn't. It's not like soldiers would drop their arms and shake hands if only they realized religion is all bull . There were plenty of other ideologies to follow, including racial supremacy, the spread of knowledge or most importantly, promise of a better life (on Earth). For every instance where history pretend people fought for religious reasons, there was another. more powerful reason at play in the minds of everyone, not just the people in power.
As far as I see it, three "major" western wars were fought on religious grounds: The Crusades, the Moorish conquests and the Thirty Year's war. What did the World Wars have to do with religion? Or the Roman and Macedonian conquests, or all the various revolutions (accept the failed English revolution). The Crimean War? Any American war? Haitian independence? Mexican independence? Brazilian Independence? The enslavement of Africans and Native Americans (like the real reason, not some auxiliary reason people tack on later)? The Nigerian Civil War?
War is political -- that's it. It has nothing to do with religion. Ideology in general is part of the political process, but faith has not been a bigger culprit of war than nationalism and greed. Sometimes, faith and nationalism go hand in hand (like with the destruction of Canaan and Aztec conquests), but it's pretty clear that nationalism is guiding religion in that case, not the other way around. Religion is a victim of people's ignorance, not the cause of it.
You spinning this way too far ...and we could debate this if you like but I agree wars was probably not the best word choice probably should of said violence. The colonization and destruction of plenty of cultures were like many have said on here fought under thr banner of religon to hide other motives I get that. The need to save and educate cultures that believed in a diffrent Gods has done plenty to decimate cultures and kill or enslave plenty of people. You can call it ideology or nationalism but many colonist and slavers really believed they were saving savages or enlightening them (sound familiar?) the fact that the leaders had political motives means little. How many rank and file soldiers of most wars are dialed in to global politics?
I do come to this place for good debate and you seem very intelligent, but I am a History major and could spend time on the matter but I won't. This is still a place for sports debate (mostly)
To me Saying a war is political and that's it is a little narrow minded just like wars (even the ones you mentioned) were not strictly religous. I'm just pointing out plenty of soldiers find it easier to bare arms when they have a religous reason to do so. Sure nationalism can also be effective but when it comes down to committment to a cause but I dont think you are going to find a stronger reason than faith at least in the ranks of the people doing the killing. The so-called war on terror should remind us of that ...

Kool having the most posts ITT.
The Lakers get their ass swept, Kobe makes a heroic trek to the bench that inspires the crowd, a lot of off-season speculation to discuss about the Lakers, and the only thing Kool wants to talk about is a got.
This proves the guy had a political agenda. He comes out to SI but not his Fiance. A few comments from Kool on this:
(1) Considering her looks he got as close to openly dating a man as he could with this chic
(2) He's no hero. He couldn't even be honest with this woman and yet wants us to give him Kudos from being a first openly gay black athlete 'emphasis on black and gay'
(3) RJ left his finance standing at the alter as well with no reason. Memo to women if you've been a fiance for a long dam time and not yet married he's probably undercover
The Down Low: NBA Booty Baller Jason Collin’s Swirly Fiancée Of 8 Years Says She Had No Idea He Was Gay!!
Jason Collins Was Engaged To Carolyn Moos Before Coming Out As Gay
Via TMZ reports:
The woman who was once engaged to NBA star Jason Collins tells TMZ, she had NO CLUE he was gay at the time of their relationship … in fact, she only found out last weekend … and she was floored.Down low men ain’t isht! Want to take a gander at the bamboozled white girl? Hit the flip to see the woman that Jason lied to and deceived for years…
Carolyn Moos (who played a few seasons in the WNBA) dated Collins for seven years and was engaged to him until they broke up in 2009 … after Collins pulled the plug on their wedding.
Carolyn tells TMZ, she never once suspected he was gay, so the news is shocking. She says Collins eventually revealed everything last weekend — just days before his big announcement — and said that his sexuality was the real reason he ended things with her.
At the time of their breakup, Carolyn says Jason gave a bunch of BS reasons for calling it quits … and she could never understand what went wrong, until now.
Carolyn — who’s back on the hunt for Mr. Right — tells us, “It’s very emotional for me as a woman to have invested 8 years in my dream to have a husband, soul mate, and best friend in him. So this is all hard to understand.”
She adds, “I care about [Jason] tremendously and only want the best for him. I want Jason to be happy for a lifetime and stay true to who he really is, inside and out.”

damn Chinook is bullying KillaAchilles ass in the paint, running him off the 3 point line, forcing him to come out of the closet per par fwiw etc.....
i'm sure religion or faith or whatever it's called is a pretext for a war, but let's face it, all wars are all about resources, energy, that's ing it. Every wants to survive, and if that means screwing over another people or tribe, especially if they are inferior or ultimately seen as a threat to consume those precious resources, then goes down. it doesn't make it right, in fact it could very well be wrong and immoral in some grand cosmic scheme, but it's all about energy and resources.
as for Jason Collins girl, I hope she didn't take any loads in her ass courtesy of Collins. she might want to get an HIV test, i'm just saying....
LOL leave it to this to come and mess up a fine discussion by sucking off Chinook ...
Tim Hardaway shuns you and Broussard condemns you to eternal damnation ...in case u missed it assclown
I conceded my poor word choice ...have no problem admitting Chinook wrote

it's cool bro, i have no problems with your sexual orientation, people's sexuality is very far down my list of concerns. i'm sure there's a ton of gay guys in the league or any sports league. I think it would be an advantage for gay people, because they enjoy all the physical contact and postgame showers, probably hoping for a gay version of Debbie Does Dallas. I wouldn't be shocked if there's a lot of gay scouts as well, it might be a tactical advantage to pour over hours and hours of tape like that.
I just thought it was hilarious how Chinook came in here and pointed out something obvious, which is it's all about the resources. Communist Russia, ancient Rome, they were some of the best at taking over other countries and it certainly wasn't about religion.
