The Romans and Greeks used to have ass sex orgies the day before battles and still would kick ass. Bacchus worshipers were prevalent in the enic age through the classic era. You know they guys that defeated the Persian empire, created the first western empire and the greatest empire the world has ever seen?

The ancient hebrews who started the phobic thing that grew into the current christian based phobia used to get their asses kicked constantly. They were made slaves had 6/7 of their people annihilated etc.

Cultural naivety and hubris is the American way though.

Broussard is just a Christian expressing typical Christian values. Nothing to see here.

I don't get this idea people have that sports should be apolitical, when they have always been extremely political.
I don't think they should be apolitical. They should absolutely analyze this based on its affect within sports, and even as a part of the national conversation. But I'm not sure where analysis of how legitimate a Christian Jason Collins is fits into the sports/political conversation. That is for Bible school.

Meh. Looks to me like Collins opened that door when he said this.

"I'm from a close-knit family. My parents instilled Christian values in me. They taught Sunday school, and I enjoyed lending a hand. I take the teachings of Jesus seriously, particularly the ones that touch on tolerance and understanding. On family trips, my parents made a point to expose us to new things, religious and cultural. In Utah, we visited the Mormon Salt Lake Temple. In Atlanta, the house of Martin Luther King Jr. That early exposure to otherness made me the guy who accepts everyone unconditionally."
Had Collins not said the above, I'd agree with you that Broussard wouldn't have any businesses going where he did.

Wisconsin Church Cancels Former NFL Player’s Speech For Supporting Jason Collins

Wow, I was schedule to speak at a church in WI, and a member said that the pastor wants to cancel my event, I said ok why? Then I was told, because I said congrats to Jason Collins on twitter, I said really? we have a contract, he said check the moral cause. FYI the fee was 8500$,then I was told if i removed the tweet, and apologize and ask god forgiveness, I can have the event, I said no.
    Then later:
I found out what happened, I guess some parents went to the church and complained about my tweet for support of Jason Collins, so sad.

“Everybody’s got their own business,” Popovich said. “(In) today’s day and age, it’s too bad it has to be such an amazing thing for everybody to talk about. It’s nobody’s business. I could care less if somebody’s gay or not gay. It’s personal choices. He’s no different than anybody else to me.”
It’s crazy that in 2013, somebody says it, and it is a big shock, and everybody is talking about it,” Ginobili said. “It should be normal, and he shouldn’t even have to announce it or say it. Nobody should care. But I know that, in his situation, he’s in a tough spot, and it’s hard not to lead your life freely.“He has guts. It’s not easy to do and, hopefully, he helps more people be free with their bodies and feel like themselves.”
Ginoibili awaits the time when such news will be greeted with a collective yawn.
“I don’t think that in other countries it would be such a big thing,” he said. “For example, in France, or even in Argentina. But here it’s a little different in that regard, and there has never been an NBA player or male major sports athlete to announce it. So that’s why the first one is always big news.

Whatever, Collins was smart to come out of the closet. Wizards are almost guaranteed to offer him a new contract now so they don't look like phobes.
I agree. For a crappy old player, this was a smart move. Now he's a marketing commodity.

oh and agree with Manu. U.S. of a A. is a backwards ass country. Like I said before, it's a country where top 1% likes to keep their middle class as ignorant and stupid as possible. What transpired this past week is living proof of this.

Nothing should be done. However ignorant or intolerant his opinion is to some people, he was at the end of the day, offering his opinion when ESPN brought him on air to discuss the topic. It's a shame people can't speak their minds nowadays.
Is Broussard in jail? No? Then he was allowed to speak his mind, as were people who disagree with him.

    No one's opinion is unchallengable.
