Rockets' Harden expected for Game 5 despite illness

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Rockets All-Star James Harden is expected to play in Game 5 against the Thunder after leaving their shootaround because of flu-like symptoms.
Coach Kevin McHale says he's sure Harden will be "ready to go" on Wednesday night.
"We're confident coming in here. Obviously, we need James and we want James to play for us to win at a high level," teammate Chandler Parsons said.
"No doubt in my mind, he's going to play tonight. There's no way some little flu bug is going to keep him from playing in an elimination game."
The Rockets face a 3-1 deficit in their first-round series against Oklahoma City, after winning Game 4 to avoid elimination.
Harden was the NBA's fifth-leading scorer during the regular season but has struggled against his former team, committing 10 turnovers while scoring 15 points in Game 4.
"James, he's a tough player, a very good friend of mine. He's going to be fine," Patrick Beverley said. "He's going to push through it like he's supposed to, like a leader does."
McHale said point guard Jeremy Lin will be available only for spot duty off the bench if he plays at all in Game 5 because of a bruised chest. Lin was hurt in Game 2 before sitting out the second half. He was ineffective in Game 3 and then was held out of Game 4.
"It seems to be just kind of lingering in there, and he hasn't been able to do anything for three or four days," McHale said.
Lin said it will be up to the medical staff whether he's allowed to play.
"They've kind of taken away my freedom to choose whether I play or not, so I don't really have a choice anymore," Lin said.
lmfao, does Houston have some pussyitis plague or something? Harden" man, this sore throat is going to make it difficult for me to run, jump, and flop." Don't even get me started about Lin's sensitive boob hurting from getting hit too hard.
Harden just trying to set the stage for his own Flu Game.
sounds like he prolly been sucking on some sour pussy...
s need to learn to scope right after eating that sour pussy...they sell trial sizes of scope at Walmart,,fit easily into his pocket
For that to happen he would have to be.... uhh.... what's the word I'm looking for.... good?
Well he was the 2nd best player on your team
and isn't this game sponsored by Westboro Church tho?
Harden already making excuses? Pathetic.
Sixth best actually, he was the 6th man of the year last yearp. And when I say good I mean Micheal Jordan good.
Either Durant goes off or some role player does series ends tonight but at least Rox didn't get swept
well that does it. Nothing separates Harden from Kobe at this point.
Never understood why people minimize players playing with the flu or flu-like symptoms. I feel like and definitely play like when I have either of those, dont see why it would be any different for NBA players tbh.
Because it's an excuse, you either win or you lose; there's no "If I wasn't feeling sick" or "If my back didn't ache so much". You either overcome whatever is happening and win, or you don't and you lose.
OKC fans![]()
Rockets might have a chance without Harden's chucking and choking, tbh![]()
Why are you laughing? Your franchise is a joke that can barely make the playoffs even though we handed you a franchise player that's given you all of your success. Blunty put, you're OKC's and always will be.
Come on, you can do better than that...then again judging from your last 5 posts in this thread I could be wrong. Oh yea, we do appreciate you gifting Harden to us for scrub ass s and a mid pick from Toronto...![]()
So you're saying that it's a one man team, yet still trying to joke that they barely made the playoffs?
You mean like Westbrook is forever Beverley's ?![]()
And yet we're the ones that have easily come on top of this series that could of easily ended in a sweep. Poor fools, as delusional as Laker fans looking for a silver lining.
Of course you should. You're the #1 seed![]()
Indeed.
