There are tons of movies, ya wanna ride the range, a western, you wanna plot ..who did it...yep, a mystery. Superhero flicks are about the audio/visual the special effects. Yes the characters matter but....plot? Good vs Evil...good wins....that's it.

expectations were very low... but if TDK can set standard, then lets expect something that seems to be thought up by someone older than 7. Iron man 3 wasted Kingsley in similar fashion to Star Wars wasting Samuel L

How many times do we see ing in comics? Watchmen had a blue in the audience's face the entire movie. Iron Man's target audience were kids and people with shallow movie tastes that easily fall for gimmicks. You fit the bill on both accounts there.

    LOL Kick-Ass

    Most definitely not for kids.

Not all comic based movies are intended for kids.

I love how any criticism of these superhero films can be easily brushed off with a "Comic book movies don't need that!" excuse.

I think most people go to these movies looking to be overwelmed with special effects and audio dramatics. I seriously doubt too many go looking for anything deep.

There will be a villian he will need to be vanizhed, enter...THE SUPERHERO!!!!!!!!!!!!....that's about it.

Saw it yesterday. Thought it was pretty cool. It was pretty much what you'd expect. I guess I don't take comic book movies as seriously as some other people, so I didn't go in expecting a life-altering experience. It was entertaining, which is what I was looking for.

And of course TDK trilogy is better than these films. They're different types of movies. That's like comparing The Gladiator to Transformers.

Gladiator to Transformers is stretching it. Sure, TDK and Watchmen and Sin City all have a different feel, but Avengers was lighthearted and still went over well. I'm not expecting it to be on the level of Paul T. Anderson or anything, but Iron Man 3 wasn't good. The ending was laughable... maybe the movie was intended to be a comedy, but if that's the case then the preview was misleading. There was no innovation... same , RD is witty and he has gadgets... Maybe I need to get a clue on what people want to see.

Maybe I missed the part where the robots showed up to kill Maximus... or were Transformers 2 and 3 about Optimus being betrayed and reduced to slavery?

I really wasn't taking a shot at anyone. I read through the thread pretty quickly and noticed some talk about TDK vs some of the Marvel films. To me they're completely different kinds of films. You watch them for different reasons and expect different things.

As far as Iron Man 3, it seemed like a pretty standard iteration. I don't think it was as good as the last two, but what do people really expect? You can keep doing the same trick different ways, but it's still the same trick. You can't get upset when you aren't as entertained by the trick as much as you were the first couple times you saw it. It is what it is.

"No innovation...same ." That's what happens when you make a third film based on a story that doesn't have a whole lot of depth. It's Ironman.

If anything, Iron Man 3 wasn't enough like the first two. Way too much emphasis on Stark and not enough emphasis on Iron Man.

It is what it is. I got my expectations too high. The previews made me think it was going to go in the direction of a more serious flick and it went the opposite direction. I'm butthurt about that.

A lot of wasted time on one of the best villains for Ironman and they blew it with this movie...took a shot in the dark to pull a plot twist and the movie failed. Too bad.

Yeah, they were trying to make him a little more human, a little more vulnerable. We've already seen that he's invincible in his suit. So now we got to see him operate without the suit. It's a slightly different take, but ultimately when he needed the suit he got it. There are only so many ways to tell the same story about a guy who needs the suit.

They didn't make him more vulnerable. They made Stark seem invincible and made the suits seem like they were made out of paper mâché.
