Dont know which is worse, that or Kobe getting as many MVP votes as he did for leading a loaded team to the 8th seed.
LeBron James was officially awarded the 2012-13 NBA Most Valuable Player award on Sunday, earning the honor for the second consecutive year and the fourth time in five seasons.
The only other player to win the award in four of five seasons is Bill Russell (1961, 62, 63, 65), and the only other players to win at least four regular-season MVPs are Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (six), Michael Jordan (five), Russell (five) and Wilt Chamberlain (four).
James was one first place vote short of becoming the unanimous MVP, with a pick going to Carmelo Anthony.
Rounding out the top five in voting are Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant (765 points), the New York Knicks' Anthony, (475 points, one first-place vote), the Los Angeles Clippers' Chris Paul (289 points), and the Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant (184 points).
James, who led the Miami Heat to a league-best and franchise-record 66-16 mark, was the only player in the NBA to lead his team in scoring (26.8 ppg), rebounding (8.0 rpg) and assists (7.3 apg).

I still laugh when they cry about Kobe not getting the MVP award in 2006.
I bet da suns killed himself after he heard this news..
He's prolly pissed Jared Dudley didn't get any votes, tbh.
Now da_suns_ is gonna bring up some old-ass take of yours from years ago and start a thread about it, hoping it makes people forget the Dudley > Melo take![]()
Before Kobe went down tbh. MVPau led them to the 7th seed.![]()
The same MVPau whose never won a playoff game w/o Kobe?
The same MVPau who helped Kobe finally get out of the 1st round after the MDE left.
but the same whose never tasted victory once without him, right? Just so we're clear...
I started another thread..just saw this one.
Its amazing how much I dominate this board even when Im not here.
There's literally no justification for carmelo as #1. I'd very much like to hear which illustrious sports writer made this selection. Could well be the worst vote of all time.
Sure, he won 3 less playoff games than Kobe did the two years he didnt have a solid big man holding his hand. In a recently relocated and 10 year old franchise, not LA btw.
Ok, this conversation's over then.
^How many did Kobe win post-Shaq, pre-MVPau ?
David Lee got an MVP vote btw![]()
Kobe went 4-8 without without either of them, which is markedly better than 0-16 (with at least 10 of those being double-digit losses). Also, you can't dispute that his supporting cast was arguably the worst in NBA history for a playoff team.
Hate to be that that self-claims victory, but when you try to rationalize 0-16 you've already lost. There is no defense for it. None.
Gasol wasnt 0-16 tbh. There is less defense for 4-8 and quitting imo.
My bad, what's the correct record w/o Kobe?
is indubitably the best of present day but im not yet ready to say he's already as good as russell, he has the potential to be better than anyone but he still has a lot to do, at least he needs to win another 6-7 rings for miami (which i believe he will)
Well since Brandon Bass isn't there to shut his ass down now, I'm sure Melo will do much better this series..
didnt the same happen to 2000 shaq? some idiot gave iverson(?) 1 first place vote which prevented the unanimous decision.
Fred Hickman...a Philly writer, no less![]()
