Been following this company pretty closely as they've been leading the front on 3D printing. Looks like they are now selling products.

    https://defdist.myshopify.com/

How will the government stop citizens from buying 3D printers and making their own firearms/magazines/parts? The designs are now solid and available for free.

So people will but 3d printers because guns are not available...?

Go to any gun show here and there will be people outside practically giving them away.

Nothing to do with availability and everything to do with being unregulated and unregistered.

anybody who manufacturers and/or sells guns should be licensed, heavily fined and mandated imprisonment for violations.

I think the problem is larger with guns already manufactured.

    3D Printed Guns

People have figured out how to print a semi-automatic rifle from the comfort of their own home. Now they’re putting all the information online so that others will join them.

This is a story about the rapid evolution of a technology that has forced the American legal system to play catch up. Cody Wilson, a 25 year old University of Texas Law student, is an advocate for the open source production of firearms using 3D printing technology.

Pretty cool if we can have open-source rifles like we have open-source software. Next step is open-source pussy.

No, these things use extruded ABS plastic.

Since I know a bit about 3d printing, I am highly skeptical of these "printed" guns. If you really had an entire gun made from a 3d printer, fire it at your own risk.

check out some of the YouTube videos, you'll be surprised. Full mag dumps through these things without a hitch.

I wonder if the company mentioned in the OP will print a car bumper, and then claim they can print cars?

Hmm. This pistol model has a very short, smooth barrel (sans rifling).

Any gun experts here trust this thing?

I don't see how the barrel made with ABS could stand up to a lot of shooting. I guess this is why the barrel is so short. Doesn't seem very safe to me.

The gun itself just seems like a big you to the government. What I am more interested in are the magazines.

FWIW, it's illegal to build an entire gun without some amount of metal that would make it detectable by metal detectors, per the Undetectable Firearms Act.

They would not be criminals in the context of this law unless they broke it.

Soon the Government will send you a 3D warrant for you to print out your own 3d handcuffs and arrest yourself.
