I tried watching DB in japanese and I just couldn't get over the girly Goku voice along with the majority of the cast.

The problem with this is that the United States debuted Dragon Ball Z first when in reality the "Z" part of the story is the second two thirds of a larger picture. Had you watched Dragon Ball first, you'd give zero s about Goku's voice sounding like that. Even with that said though, there is an ever so subtle difference between Masako Nozawa's child Goku and adult Goku. She also plays Gohan and Goten and I could easily tell you which voice is which by basic ear test.

I recommend removing the stick from your ass and then trying to watch it again, tbh. It's just a voice in a cartoon. You should waste your effort on disliking something far more relevant. The way Goku's lines are written in the English dub is just... not Goku. Like at all. The English version of DB/DBZ is like DB/DBZ passed out at a party and someone took a felt pen and drew s all over its face.

I like watching foreign films in their actual language. The desired effect is always lost when you dub something. It just sounds off.

Netflix has a few dubbed movies that are clearly meant to be seen in their perspetive language but the english dubbed version just throws the whole thing off. I often have to quit a movie because I just cant get into it for said reason.

Even though Dragonball and its predecesors are origignally japanese I'm just used to the English voices more for obvious reasons.

All valid points, and I totally understand because I started on DB in English as well. Unfortunately for my time, this was back when they only had about 50 episodes available and would always go back to the beginning right about when Goku touched down on Namek and I was one of the few cool kids in my school who had high speed internet at the time, so I found a site (not even a site really, just an index page with all the links) that had every episode of DB and Z in RealPlayer video format and just mined it all off that site for a few days. So I experienced MOST of the story in Japanese for the first time, save for those 50 episodes which I did eventually go back and rewatch in Japanese.

I actually speak Japanese now (moreso to play games without text patches than to watch film/animation without sub les) so the way their actors speak and sound doesn't really bother me at all. My personal Japanese accent sounds a lot different than my English speech. It's just something you accept after a while. I just have a huge problem with how they did Goku in English. They make him out to be this Superman type character that stands up for good and thwarts evil when really he's just a really strong country bumpkin and the only thing he wants out of life is to fight someone stronger than him so he can improve. That's it. The English version adds too many elements to Goku that aren't even supposed to be there and it destroys his character.

Dragon Ball Z Kai does a much better job of staying true to the original script and even slightly changes how they write for Goku. It's passable, and I'd even say if you are going to be a stickler for staying with the English version then it's probably OK to watch that version. But the original run of DBZ TV is garbage. If I ever become a multimillionaire I'm going to buy out FUNimation and redub it properly.

iirc it has something to do with them being human, as well as two fused human-sayians in SS mode that makes Gotenks so got damn powerful and able to sustain SS3

The human/Saiyan hybrid thing is mostly Gohan's plot device. I don't think it was meant to be a universal constant in the series. Toriyama was inspired by Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde when he characterized Gohan like that. The only longshot explanation as to why Gotenks can do SS3 is when Goku explains how fusion works. He says that when he learned about the technique, he "saw two guys who had like no power at all fuse into this totally awesome guy" so you'd naturally assume two Super Saiyans fusing could result in enough power for SS3.

But the problem I have with that is that Goku can barely sustain the form and it actually subtracts HOURS from his 24 hour allowance to come back to Earth. The kids never reach SS2 (whether fused or individually) and apparently aren't taxed at all by using SS3. It's bull . If it harms Goku to use that form, it should wipe them out.

Charles Ramsey and his goons could destroy all of them.. Seriously though, I thought DBZ was great. I liked every saga.. GT was lame though and I wish I never sat through it. YuYu Hakusho was another good anime, especially if you enjoyed DBZ.

Yes, superboy prime got his pushed in into the speed force, but to be fair it took multiple Flashes

between speedforce, IMP, and speed steal I go with Flash

YuYu is really underrated but you can tell how similar it was getting to DBZ towards the end. Not a bad thing.

Man, I loved YuYu. The manga that's getting ing ridiculous is Naruto. It went from Kakashi versus Zabuza; to ing nuclear bomb jutsus, gravitational moons being created, and meteors.
