We saw Jack destroy Neal then Barnes. I thought Joseph played great D in the first half, and it is not like Neal did anything offensively.
So why?
Coaching fail, tbh. Pop's love affair with Neal hurting us more than his love affair with Bonner.

I don't know why Pop went away from CJ on Jack; but I didn't mind when Neal was guarding Barnes in the post.
Use your head. To bait Barnes into iso possession after possession. We got several stops with Neal on Harrison. Neal normally hurts us but tonight it worked.
Jack made his shots but its better than handing off to Curry. Force him to iso. It'll bite them in games 5 and 6.
Cory played great D today, even hit a shot.
I'm blown away why Pop went neal over Cory. Someone in the game thread mentioned Pop mauve using Neal on Barnes to goad GS to going through Barnes....i don't agree with the logic but i can understand it

Neal just shouldn't play period, especially when the team is struggling on offense. When the team is struggling on offense like they were tonight, then they need defense, and Neal provides absolutely no defense. I'm still mad about Pop taking Splitter out and putting in Neal early in the 4th. If Pop doesn't do that Spurs win this game and end the series on Tuesday.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Spurs are really feeling the effects of Jack's absence and not having a viable SF option (apologies to McGrady). That is not to say the Jack deserves to be on the team, but his absence has created a hole in the roster that Neal isn't capable of filling
The Spurs are missing a guy who will hit jumpers when nobody else will, and they're missing someone to keep Kawhi from putting his head down.
Gary Neal should not see the floor, hasn't hit a meaningful shot, can't hit but still forces shots and his defense is crap. Hate that we went away from Corey Joseph who actually fights through screens and can keep up with Jack. Hate that we went small too and didn't see Diaw or Splitter in crucial minutes. I saw Neal basically stop at the screens and put his hands up as if to say, go ahead and shoot it I suck.
now people finally hating on neal? i got on all year because i said he was a fukin scrub. people still living off of his 3point shot against memphis.
Worked awesome.... For Golden State. Neal was a disaster today.
