Yeah, yeah, and if Duncan isn't injured in '00, if Derek Fisher doesn't hit the luckiest shot in NBA history, and if Manu isn't a complete re in '06, Duncan could have 7 rings.
We can play that game all day.
Pau? Dude never received a single MVP vote ever. Look it up. Give Kobe a respectable big or two in in 01-10 and he would ring multiple times. Pau..Acting like he's some kind of legend.

Doesn't matter.
Jerry Buss said during the 01 WCF if he's seeing the best stretch ever from a Laker, and he was talking about Kobe.
Lakers would still tap that ass like 01 in 00 lol
Duncan hit a lucky shot too just before it. Remember what Shaq said? One lucky shot deserves another.
06 yall probably should have won, so yeah Duncan could have 5 rings.
So now it's MVPs?
Duncan 2
Kobe 1
Finals
Duncan 3
Kobe 2
Deuce Bigalow with the bads per par tbh. Anywhere you go, you'll lose the discussion![]()
If you're going by regular season MVPs then you have to say that Nash was a better player than Kobe in 06 and Dirk was better than Kobe in 07.
Finals MVPs need context. Kobe played with Shaq. Check Shaq's Finals MVP numbers. God would struggle to win a FMVP in 00-02. Duncan aka lost FMVP to Parker wouldn't have a chance either.
Serious question, when you were a kid, did you ride the bicycle on reverse?
Because you in backpedal a lot.
So? Neither has Manu. Both are great 2nd/3rd options no matter their success or failure away from their superstar co-star.
And this whole bull about "Pau never winning a playoff game without Kobe" is just that. Bull .
His first playoff appearance in '04, he played the played the Spurs, who were peaking, entering the playoffs on an 11 game winning streak and looking unbeatable. In the closeout game, he scored 22 points on 10-15 shooting. How can you blame him? Other than game one, he had a solid series.
His second playoff appearance in '05, he played the '05 Suns, another peaking team who many were picking to come out the Western Conference. He averaged 22, 7.5, and 1.8 blks on .488 shooting. Can't blame him.
His third playoff appearance in '06, he played the '06 Mavericks. A 60 win team who, as we know, made the Finals. Scored 25 points on 9-19 shooting.
And most recently, he saw his whole team quit on him, including that overrated chimp Laker fans and the Lakers FO are ready to blow to keep him in LA.
Pau is a great player, and it's unfair to downplay his accomplishments and talent to prop up Kobe.
Andgive Kobe a serviceable big or two and he would win multiple les. Kobe's never won jack unless he has the best big or the best frontline in the league on his team.
Big. Man. Dependent.
Because NBA fans
also because people in general are stupid
Box score pimping:
Jefferson: +1
Tim Duncan: -23
Boiled down: when Jefferson played, his team had a lead. TD? Not so much.![]()
God damn it Mid when will you learn to be right?
09 Playoffs
Gasol 18/11
Odom 12/9
Bynum 6/4
10 Playoffs
Gasol 20/11
Odom 10/9
Bynum 9/7
What is so special about them?
Fine. You roll with that. I'll roll with:
Kobe - 5
Snaq - 4
Own ^ . We can do this all day son.![]()
Who's that?
Keep in mind that defenses focused on Kobe and Kobe made things easier for them with his great playmaking.
This. Spurs should still win but next series will be tougher
why are lakerfans running their mouths when the lakers aint in the playoff, why you guys trying to act like ur rapist leader who cant stfu so other teams get the shoes shine in the playoffs
I'm not even downplaying Gasol. But he is not a legend. He is not a top 50 GOAT. A good All-Star big man was what he was that saw his efficiency e when he came to LA because of Kobe.
48% for a big man against the defenseless Suns and 22 points as the main option in a against a team with THAT PACE?!
GTFO ...Pau is Achilles dependent
Mid deflecting again ...
So what? Replace Shaq with Duncan and Duncan wins those Finals MVPs, as well.
'00 Finals:
Kobe: 15.6 points on .367 shooting.
Yeah, I'm sure Duncan would struggle to eclipse that.
'01 Finals:
Kobe: 24.6ppg, 7.8rpg, 5.8apg on .41 shooting. Duncan's bettered that line multiple times in the Finals.
'02 Finals:
26, 6, 5.3, 1.5stl on .514 shooting.
Duncan against that Nets team:
24.2ppg, 17rpg, 5.3apg, 5.3bpg on 50% shooting.
Let's look at how the two players did against the Pistons in the Finals:
Kobe: 22.6, 2.8rpg (), 4.4aph, 1.8spg, .381 shooting
Duncan: 20ppg, 14rpg, 2apg, 2bpg, .419 shooting.
It's doubtful Kobe wins any Finals MVPs playing alongside Duncan in the early-to-mid 00s.
So you cherry picked that series against the Suns? Even with that, he put up monster stats and an almost 50% shooting. He played well against a very against the defending champs in 04 and against a dominant Mavs team.
Kobe would win FMVP in 01 easily over Duncan. 00 Kobe wasn't in his prime.
He was terrible in game one. Shot over 50 percent in every game after.
In the games where Pau shot over 20 shots, he had 28 points both times.
22 points per game on near .50 shooting is solid for a young big in his second ever playoff series. The games in which he was kept below 20 shots were blowouts, with him playing 26 minutes and 32 minutes respectively. So your pace argument in this instance fails. When he got the shots, he put up big numbers.
How about you post Western Conference playoffs stats that Kobe put up to get to the Finals Mid?
2001
Kobe (11g): 31.6 PTS (.577 TS%), 7.0 REB, 6.2 AST, 1.6 STL, 0.5 BLK, 3.0 TOV
