I remember when my grandma was in town for my bar mitzvah. She walks in the house while I'm watching the Suns game and before even saying hi to me said, "Get those gorillas off the TV!"![]()
I think all grandmothers do that. when I'd watch wheel of fortune or jeopardy with mine, she'd always bring out the racist slurs. "there are no vowels left, you stupid " or "we can't understand you, coon".

Yeah there's a good chance this restaurant is just a drug racket he uses to keep his wife happy while he launders money through it.
Get your grandmother to tell Samy "I had better food in Dachau".
I, uh, I, uh... never had a complaint about my burgers. Everybody loves them.
I, uh, I, uh... never had a complaint about my pizzas. Everybody loves them.
I, uh, I, uh... never had a complaint about my ravioli. Everybody loves them.
I'm, uh, just gonna stop talking right now, because talking is pointless...
Strangely enough, my grandma loved basketball.
LOL! My father in law, when seeing a black on tv--"They gotta get in your house some way!" ; my mother in law--"Such a shame, TV used to be just good white people"
I was freaking shocked when I heard that, esp. being their son's second Hispanic wife
My grandma's favorite basketball player -- Johnny Moore. Favorite show -- Cosby. Yet, didn't want me bringing those "colored boys" into the house. Lol
Mine loves referring to black people as "Sammy Davis Juniors"
Is this thread now about grandmas or something tbh?

Screaming, Expletives, and, Eventually, Police: All in the First Night of Kitchen Nightmares Taping at Amy's Baking Company
Yelpers went nuts over the weekend -- and guess who was the topic? Amy Bouzaglo of Amy's Baking Company in Scottsdale, who apparently cooked up a storm on Saturday.
In fact, I reached out to one diner who was at Saturday night's taping of Kitchen Nightmares at Amy's. He got a very real dose of reality television -- more than he bargained for, actually.

Although he had heard about owner Amy Bouzaglo's reputation, the diner, who wishes to remain anonymous because of a confidentiality agreement he signed for the show's producers, tells me he was more a fan of the FOX reality show -- in which British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay spends a week with a failing restaurant to try and bring it back to life -- and wanted to be a part of it. What he didn't count on was the chaos that happened that evening.
"I couldn't believe it was real," he says.
The scene started almost immediately.
"It was very tense," the diner tells me, "you could hear Amy [Bouzaglo] yelling in the kitchen and Samy [Bouzaglo's husband] was running all over the dining room. Other tables were complaining and people were leaving because they were waiting so long for their food. My partner and I had reservations for 6:45. By 9:30, we still hadn't received our pizza."
Thinking the drama might be part of the show, the diner talked to one of the show's producers, who confirmed that what was happening was real.
Still without pizza, the diner went up to the cash register to talk to Samy, who was arguing with another customer. When Samy saw the diner, he told him his pizza was coming. When the diner answered that Samy had told the diner that an hour ago, Samy responded by saying, "Why don't you go yourself."
And, according to the diner, it wasn't long before Amy came out to see what was happening.
"She was yelling and screaming 'get the out' and saying if we weren't going to pay for our drinks, she was going to call the cops. She called me a 'tough guy' and said, 'You better correct your acting skills if you're trying to get on TV.' The producer said he would pay for our bill and that we should leave."
The diner adds, "The producers told me they had never seen anything like this."
When the diner and his partner walked out, he says the Scottsdale police were already on the scene and tells me they were responding to a 911 hangup call he presumes was made by Amy. He goes on to say he heard Amy tell the police she had been "set up."
To add to the evening's disaster, the diner says he never did get to see Gordon Ramsay.
When I called Samy to ask for his side of the story, he told me couldn't talk to me because "Ramsay was there."
A call to one of the producers of the show has not yet been returned.
The Scottsdale Police Department confirms for Chow Bella they came out to Amy's Baking Company on Saturday evening following a 911 hangup call. They concluded everything was fine and left without making a report.
DoK, get Miranda's phone number if you plan on going.
Agreed she's pretty fine tbh.
http://www.amysbakingcompany.com/ site leads to a white house pe ion. was this really their website address?

now that's comedy
and those yelp comments are hilarious![]()
I spoke with my former boss who owned a relatively successful restaurant before it went under in Los Angeles. I mentioned earlier that Kitchen Nightmares called and asked to come in before they went under after a huge lawsuit they had with a business partner led to problems.
I asked him if he had seen this episode, he told me no. I told him it was good he didn't go on the show because it could literally ruin your life. He told me that the whole reason why he was interested is the show producers called and offer $60-70k to do the show because they make a certain percentage off endorsements. They said they'd have a contract over in days, but he decided he didn't want his personal life out like that.
I know this guy, he's loaded up the ass, so $70k wasn't worth it to him. I just found that interesting that they offer so much money to be on the show. I can see why people are willing to go on now, it's not that they really think it will work they just wanna get paid. Thought that was a cool story bro tbh
cooking shows are lame
Some updates, a local news team went to interview them. Hilarity ensues...why do I get the feeling we'll see these two again somewhere?
