of why idiots that invalidate players like Westbrook and Carmelo are imbeciles that don't understand the concept of roles in basketball..certain posters that would rather have Jared Dudley, just a random example, tbh..

Kevin Durant is one of the most efficient players in NBA history, yet he has progressively struggled without Westbrook, suffering from fatigue and the burden of being the only scorer on a top team, while facing a great defense..

Carmelo Anthony is often criticized for being an inefficient chucker, but he's in Durant's position every game..he plays on a team that doesn't have any other reliable offensive options, forcing him to carry the load on a regular basis, which induces poor shooting games and questionable shot selection..

Russell Westbrook is a low-IQ player, sure, tbh..he often shoots his team out of games..however, he plays on a team that only runs plays for 2 guys without any ball movement..Westbrook playing his role allows players like Ibaka and Martin to play their reduced roles at a higher level, and he creates looks for them..

These same posters, I'm not going to name names, have preferred Tyson Chandler over Carmelo, and Ibaka over Westbrook, yet we've now seen how useless those 2 bigs are when the latter two aren't playing at the highest level..

Durant >> Carmelo, btw, and I'm not even a Carmelo fan..it's just funny that there are people that still don't understand the concept of roles..

Carmelo isn't ignoring other options like certain Laker players choose to do, either..he doesn't have other options..

Other options got swept in the 1st round always losing by more than 10 points, other main scoring option is 0-16 in the playoffs without certain Laker player.

First you make a point about Durant being in the same situation as Melo and clearly under performing by shooting contested jumpers all night then state he's better than Melo. That's a paradox.

Melo is more versatile and when shots aren't falling he reverts to posting up, something Durant simply cannot do. Durant has no post game and he isn't strong enough to bully Tony Allen to the post. Another part of Durant's game that is lacking is his rebounding, no I'm not talking about the stat padding defensive rebounds. I'm talking about banging down low when a shot doesn't fall. Melo always looks to grab the offensive re and relishes contact. Something Durant tries to avoid.

Both players aren't anything to brag about defensively, but when it comes to running an offense. I'm picking Melo.

Dont disagree with the fact that OKC is clearly better with the chimp but what about the other team being better after they got rid of an inefficient, chucker that happened to be their leading scorer?

Rudy Gay isn't a good player, tbh, but more importantly, he's an example of a guy that was on a team that had 2 better options than him..

Rudy Gay can't shoot and he doesn't do anything particularly well..

I'm not a fan of chuckers, my point is that some guys(like Anthony) are forced into carrying a load, and that should be considered when ranking them..

plus westchuck's absence also makes ibaka's efficiency drop alot imho. the whole team struggled to make ends meet w/o westbrook. they're not a better team than the 03-04 magic where t-mac was the only scoring option, and they were lucky to have beaten houston in the first round (which the rockets would've won with ease had they played less Rin, knowing they were 2-0 against OKC w/o Rin playing and 0-4 with him)
