I don't have cable; just Netflix/Hulu Plus on the Xbox. Also, assuming that the next Xbox plays Blu-Ray, it means I can get rid of my Blu-Ray player and just use the Xbox for movies also.
You can already do that?

Damn this thing is huge.
But I already have a radio.
I like listening to podcasts while gaming, too. And I know I enjoy it because I've already been doing it for years.
I've been able to do that with every console I've owned since the Sega Genesis.
They're saying every console comes with kinect. Hope they release a cheaper xbox without it, i couldn't care less about kinect.
I just meant using different inputs![]()
Definitely sticking with PS if that used game holds. Thats just ridiculous.
Given the history of Xbox reliability you should probably not get rid of a bluray player right off the bat.
Sounds like the system will require you to have an internet connection initially before being able to play games. I think this thing is going to have a WiiU-like trajectory - okay initial sales followed by a plummet to the bottom.
Apparently the xbox one cable experience is no better than google tv's:

The problem is that the demoes weren't real — the Xbox One's TV integration is the same familiar nightmare we've known for nearly 20 years now. Instead of actually integrating with your TV service, the One sits on top of it: you plug your cable box's HDMI cable into the Xbox, which overlays the signal with its own interface. If you're lucky enough to own a newer cable box, you'll get to change channels directly through the HDMI connection, but most people will find themselves using the One's included IR blaster to control their cable or satellite boxes — a failure-prone one-way communication system that stubbornly refuses to die.
If this sounds familiar to you, it's because it's exactly the same way Google's flailing Google TV platform works. (Google TV even had an NBA demo when it launched in 2011.) If you're a little older it should be even more familiar: it's exactly how Microsoft's own doomed webTV platform worked. We've been overlaying fancy interfaces on top of cable signals and praying for IR blasters to adequately control the boxes for years now, and it's never worked — the content and information on your cable box is too valuable to relegate it to second place, and jumping back and forth between interfaces is irritating and stupid.
What's more, these systems only really work for live television, which you probably aren't watching. Want to watch a show recorded on your DVR? There's no way for the Xbox One to know about it, so you have to use the DVR interface. Found a great show using the One's search and discovery tools and want to record the season? Time to switch to the DVR interface again. IR blaster miss a channel change? The One's guide and channel bar will show different information than the cable box. The cable box is the canonical interface for television, and every attempt to usurp or overlay it has failed.
One thing to consider when it comes to Used games is that with the Cloud being a primary element to the new console, you'll likely be able to download games that have been out for a while at a discounted price. That's really the main benefit of buying used anyway.
what about the poor sap in the boonies with ty internet. Also what happens later when multiple consoles occupy 1 house. The way it stands one family would have to buy 1 game per console
trying to compete with Sony while shooting themselves in the foot at the same time.
I absolutely detest "always on" games so I hope MS doesn't go that route. Also, though I can do split screen, the wife complains.and sometimes, it's me playing a game, then he kids start flipping out so I pause and throw on Dinosaur Train or something like that on Netflix/Hulu.
Lol, seems like Microsoft isn't too proud of their CPU and GPU to not put out the specs..
Haven't you heard? Hughesnet is now offering Satellite broadband with blazing speeds up to 15 mbps down for ONLY 120.00 a month!!
Wasn't impressed at all.
The backwards compatibility thing is understandable... but the xbla games not transferring is annoying.
I bought the 360 over the ps3 for 3 reasons: 1) It came out first and I already had a decent lineup of games when the ps3 came out so there was really no need for another console
2) My hands get extremely uncomfortable with the dualshocks and they feel like little toys to me. the 360's controller is pretty much ideal for me and I even use a wired one for my PC. I loved the fatties that the original xbox had. Fit my hand like a glove.
3) I had like 5 or 6 years of Live built up after getting subscription cards for birthdays and xmas' when I had the original xbox.
I won't be renewing my gold account and will most likely sit next gen out unless there's a string of games that come out that won't be heading to PC. I'd consider my computer an upper middle class gaming rig (crossfired 7870's with a fx-6300) and have no problem sticking with it for the next few years.
rush job tbh, they may not even have a final mock.
I haven't owned a Sony system since the PS2, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the PS4 is probably gonna on Xbox One for what it is intended to be..a game system. Microsoft is too caught up with being an all in one entertainment system and I think the system design will take a backseat to that. It's a complete joke that on your debut of a new console you don't give the media the material they need to start the next gen console war. Pathetic.
Ehh if they have enough exclusives that will be fine, isn't that all it comes down to anyway?
I didn't get the 360 until a year and a half or so after it came out... I'll likely follow the same timeline on this one.
That GIF was amazing and more epic than any of the new console toys tbh
That's total crap that xbox live games don't transfer. Can't believe i was dumb enough to buy xbox live games.
