http://www.mmajunkie.com/news/2013/0...-161-headlinerUFC interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao is officially out of next month's UFC 161 main event.
UFC President Dana White today told MMAjunkie.com that doctors determined Barao (30-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) tore ligaments in his foot and won't be cleared to defend his belt against challenger Eddie Wineland (20-8-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC).

This card still sucks buffalo helmet.
The card overall isn't that great, but Hendo is my boy so I'll watch anything if he's fighting. Also, I'm excited to see Woodley fight again - he looked great in his UFC debut.
USA TODAY: Nelson vs. Miocic added to UFC 161, six-fight main card possible

Not a fan of the UFC, i'd go but not a single interesting fight. Shogun vs. Noguiera is meh, main event is meh..
That Nelson fight is odd... That seems like a major step down for Roy, all things considered. Didn't Stipe lose his last fight? (too lazy to look it up)
Yes and yes. Stipe lost to Struve in his last fight.
I really don't get it, Nelson is a much better fighter than Hunt, but Hunt is the one who gets to fight JDS. Nelson has the same power Hunt does, but Nelson adds insane wrestling skill. Big Country should be getting shots against top 5 heavyweights.
Apparently Nelson still has one more fight under his TUF contract so he is doing it now so they can start to negotiate a new contract after the fight.

Unfortunately, I have confirmed the Rogerio injury story. Promotion is currently looking for replacement, I'm told.
Lil Nog out...
Looks like Sonnen got the fight..

With Lil Nog injured,@ShogunRua is left opponentless 2 weeks out;#ufc161 will proceed with 11 fights and Shogun will fight on a card soon
Shogun Rua @ ShogunRua 10m
"We just know that the fight against Chael Sonnen fell. I wanted to apologize to the fans, I did what I could to fight back August 17"
So that's that..
MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET)
Hendo by UD
Big Country by KO
- Alexis Davis vs. Rosi Sexton
- Pat Barry vs. Shawn Jordan
- Ryan Jimmo vs. Igor Pokrajac
PRELIMINARY CARD (FX, 8 p.m. ET)
This fight should have been moved to main card.
Besides Hendo, Big Country, and Woodley, I tend to agree with you.
Only good fight is Hendo vs Rashad. Big Country/Woodley are heavy favorites
I agree those matchups aren't as good, I just enjoy watching them fight whomever they have as an opponent.
Rashad Evans v. Dan Henderson - This looks to be a very entertaining fight, and I never pick against Hendo.
Roy Nelson v. Stipe Miocic - Easy KO for Big Country
Ryan Jimmo v. Igor Pokrajac - this will probably be a slugest, and I see Jimmo winning that
Pat Barry v. Shawn Jordan - I go back and fort on this. I think that Jordan is the better all-around fighter, but I think that Berry will be able to land a KO shot.
Jake Shields v. Tyron Woodley - I see Woodley just picking Shields apart for 3 rounds.
